F800GS owners.......A Penny for your thoughts...

'Red1' - Servicing isn't that bad. I can't speak on behalf of the 18k however mine is going in for the 12k next week. Its roughly about £280's from BMW. Which is reasonable seeing the job they do.

On my own thoughts since owning an F800GS since November i cannot fault it at all! I just did 2200ish miles last week in France on a 9 day trip and i didn't have one issue with it. Even in temperatures of 31 degrees. The bike handles the restriction perfect (When to be honest i asked BMW about a restriction they sort of laughed re power) But to me its more than enough on a British road. They are however reasonably heavy and luckily i have never dropped the bike and wouldn't want to as its pretty huge.
Apart from that everything is superb and I've done just over 6000 miles since owning the bike and its never needed to use warranty of breakdown service or go into the dealership. These miles have been in heavy rain, snow and sunshine. Not once has it ever let me down!

Outstanding bikes i would keep mine however i now need more luggage space due a commitment i have.

Guys (And girls) Thank you very much for the info so far, I'm really liking what I'm reading.

I have a question: are there any technical differences between the 08 and 2010 bikes?

I predict this will go the same way as the same threads on S1000's, 1200GS' and KTM Adventure's.

Done just short 0f 18 k on mine and just back from a 10 day 2800 mile Alp trip. Faultless never skipped a beat.
Does everything i ask of it and more. Its had the usual recalls head bearings, rocker cover et al , all done with no problems at Rainbow. Top dealer in my opinion . Just in the process of planning next years Euro jaunt . As previously mentioned the standard seat is not the most comfortable, but i invested in an airhawke which helped no end ( after mending the puncture in it) Again, as said, on a slog to the ferry owt above 85 mph becomes hard work .

The only one I can think of is the larger studs/nuts holding the rear sprocket on.

Oh man, I'm well chuffed for you :thumb2
Lovely colour, I'll be very keen to hear your thoughts on it.

Am I right in thinking It is the same engine as the 800 isn't it? just slightly different styling?

Good on you buddy.
Enjoy

84 miles today Guildford to Alton, some spirited riding from Alton to Sheps at Basinstoke [you know that road :D ], then a bimble cross country to Andover and home to Hungerford.
Picture below shows Average MPG of 73 :eek
23 mpg more than i ever got from my GS 1100/1150's or 1200 :)
And it did everything i would of done on any of them.......

Glad to hear things are good, so you come out at the end of the year?

The F650GS has the same798cc lump as the F800GS, the only difference is the BHP is 71 instead of 83. The 2013 update is to 75BHP and a rebadge of F700GS.

I went to look at one in the flesh this morning (Before going to Farnborough airshow) Liked what I saw, They only had one 800GS there and that was the Blue and White "Trophy" edition, looked very good.
I Was told by the nice man at Motorrad that the 2013 800GS will be along in September, AND they will have PROPER indicator switches!
Picked-up a brochure for MissB to have a look as..she's onboard :D

I have booked a demo ride on the current version for my next available Saturday.

Watch this space.
