Has anybody else experianced this as since the heatwave started my speedo needles getting a bit ahead of itself and with the bike parked up rareley drops below 30mph, its o.k once its out of the sun & cool but soon starts again in sunlight. Read a couple of threads on F800.org initially blaming heat magnification through the screen and causing the speedo face to bubble/blister which interfered with the needle only mine shows no sign of this? Hoping to take it off the weekend see if I can find anything?

regards AL

Having had one apart (melted facia :blast ) there's not a whole lot you can do in there - it's all digital and there's a fair bit of clearance between the needle and the facia.

Look around the mating edges of the facia and main unit - they are made of different plastics (although they look very similar) as the facia melts quicker than the main unit and therefore a gap will appear around the edge as the facia shrinks and the main body does not. If this edge is intact then i'd suggest the problem lies elsewhere...

On another note - i had this symptom when the potentiometer went (which i didn't understand as i thought this only measured revs / gear selection :nenau ) Have you been finding neutral physically but it not being displayed on screen?

Thanks for the info :beerjug: regarding the potentiometer/neutral issue I haven't noticed a problem as such but i'll pay a bit more attention to the gear indicator when i'm on the bike although I obviously do use the 'N' all the time. Just seemed a bit strange its only when its hot.. this is balanced out by my heated grips that don't seem to work when its freezing schoolboy error software glitch apparently  I'll probably just end up putting it down to character :jager regards AL
