Hi Chaps,

After i return home from my first trip abroad on a bike to France in July my best friend is going to be put up for sale as i need to get a car. I brought it from the Parish where the previous owner used it to go to Spain on and then let it sit in his garage for ages. I have done 4000 miles on it since November from travelling to and from University and volunteering. It had 5,800 miles when i brought the bike and now just over 10,000 miles.

The bike is restricted to 33BHP, the first one in the South to be done and the part had to be specially shipped over from Germany which cost me a fortune to say the least (having it fitted). The market at the moment seems strange sellers are asking for £5,500+ for a F800GS with over 10,000 miles. To be honest i would be looking at that for it with all the mods it has.

It has Akrapovic Exhaust, Vario Top box, Tinted Cee Baileys screen, Garmin Zumo 660, BMW Tank bag, original exhaust etc etc.

So if possible could you give me an idea of what you think it is worth if i advertised it in July? :thumb

Cheers chaps.

Sorry to hear your leaving the fold.

Not sure what sort of cut dealers take at the mo but there's one with 30k selling for £6k in North Oxford Motorrad.

Not sure of restricted effect - though i think next year all the new power rules start in the EU so this may have some effect.

Sell spares / accessories here or on eBay as they suffer heavy depreciation at the dealers.

Best of luck,

S

Wow £6,000 for a F800GS with 30,000 miles. Absolute madness! I won't be trading it into a dealer as i doubt Seat want a BMW motorbike. I'd rather sell it as one who package as that's the way i brought it. The restriction i'm sure i could get taken out by BMW and i'll just sell that separately. :thumb

Dealers tend to place very little value on extras. If you are going to sell it to a dealer then strip it back to basic and sell the extras on Ebay or whatever.
I have P/Exd bikes in the past with extras on only to see the bike in the showroom later with everything removed - presumably sold separately by the dealer.
Looking at the list of extras on your bike I would guess that the new price for that lot would be near to £1500.
When I bought my bike (10 plate) a BMW tank bag was £160, the Vario top box was £365, BMW touring screen £285. An Akrapovitch end can is currently listed at £565. A Garmin Zumo 660 currently on Amazon at around £450.
With regard to the restricter I dare say a dealer would have no trouble removing that and selling it on. I believe BMW will currently supply a new bike with a 33bhp restriction free of charge if ordered new anyway.

Would need to know what year the bike is as age/mileage/condition is what determines the value but the mileage is low so I think you have a good chance of selling privately.

Yeah i'm a bit of a silly bugger for not putting and details up. Its a 2008 Bumblebee (Best colour) F800GS with 10,700 miles at current. FSH, has warranty, owned it since November and have spent over £900's at BMW Bahnstormer's getting everything checked (Service, Head-bearings, Restricter, Chain adjustment etc etc) Brand new tyres etc. Not ONE mark on the bike, only mark is a chip on hand-guard where previous owner scrapped it in the garage. I promise to any buyer when i sell this bike that there is not one mark on it. There is loads of things to say about it but thats general as well as extra's like I've listed. :thumb

Really no one can give me a value of what its worth. This site used to be crawling with potential buyers at one stage. :blast

If you bother to look around, the range of prices on one page alone go from £4850 with 16K to £5399 with 47K on the clock so you need to make your own mind up on what a good price is.
