I'm going through some old hard drives and ive been finding quite a lot of old planning stuff that I put together to produce fords rides from various places

I thought I may as well stick them up here so people can use them if they want to :thumb2....I'll do them as and when but eventually I'll get all of them up here.

I used WETROADS.CO.UK a lot, so many thanks to them for keeping their fords database.

Some of this info is 5-6 years out of date now, so for fekk's sakes use it only as a guide and assume that a) the routes may no longer be on open byways where a byway makes up a part of it and b) the fords will have changed....some may be easier, some may be impassible and some might be dangerous.

I'm going to do some teaching granny to suck eggs here, but for the sake of all byways/fords users, I think it's worthwhile putting this in.

Suggested rules for riding fords, not in any particular order

1) Test walk them first....on a GS, don't attempt it if the water goes above your knees.
2) Check rights of way first, using council maps (definitive maps) and other information
3) Don't do them alone.......being stuck under a GS in a river isn't fun or clever :blast
4) Horse riders like fords and byways too.....you v a horse, you will lose...if you see one, stop, turn engine off and wait for them to be safely away before you continue
5) Keep to the 'country code' in all ways....EG litter, speeds, livestock etc
6) Carry a half litre of tranny oil and an allan key if you're on a GS and check your final drive oil after the ride :blast

In general, don't piss people off and make life harder for others who want to go and ride the same routes :thumb

TIDAL FORD......beware salt water.

Definitely check tide tables.......The first time I visited on the recce run with Steve and Rebecca, it was just rideable, but on the day of the fords ride itself, it was several feet under and NOT doable :blast
