Its always dangerous having time to spare and calling into a dealer. I was meeting Metisse to head down to the off-road school in Wales last Friday and with a few hours to spare, popped into Bahnstormer nr Alton (formerly SPC). After BTBRs post re exhausts/headers, I'd emailed Simon in parts at Bahnstormer re the BOS full system for the 1200GSA and he couldn't have been more helpful. So, called in, said hello and asked if he had a full system I could see. I was so impressed with it that on the spur of the moment I said I'd buy it if they could fit it there and then..........and they did.

60mins later I am a very happy camper. The system sounds fantastic, top quality, and the bike is transformed. £600 fully fitted and they even knocked out a dent in my pannier.

Big thumps up for Bahnstormer:thumb2

Just out of curiosity Jeremy, but did the dealer mention anything about it possibly running lean with this new system?

Not that I think for a minute that it would to be quite honest, before you get to alarmed!!!

When I spoke to my local dealer prior to fitting my Remus headers they said that there would be no need at all to do anything regarding extra fuelling, i.e. fitting a Power Controller.

What is interesting however, and I suspect a little bit of scare mongering is involved, is that Wunderlich recommend that you fit a PC with after market headers and a "open" end because there is a risk that the engine will be running lean?

Of course, if you are fitting a PC because you want improved performance, then that is a different argument altogether.

The other thing that confuses me, without the PC fitted and with just a wisp of throttle on overrun, it sure does pop and bang...lovely, if some what childish.

Fit the PC and nothing, ok, maybe the occasional "love puff", but that's about it...confused? What is the PC doing to stop it??

BOS FAQ
"Does my bike need any adjustments after I've mounted a BOS exhaust system?
All the motorcycles are tested in our own test facilities; all bikes are stock and fully tested for co and co2 emissions in the complete rpm range. If adjustment is necessary we deliver tuning tips and jets with the exhaust, but in general this will not be needed."

Well, you cannot say any fairer than that can you!

The dealer said there shouldn't be a problem but that every bike is different. One week later and 600miles it is wonderful. Find myself downshifting in every tunnel and the underground carpark at work just to hear the cackle. It no longer sounds like a bag of spanners. Thanks for the inspiration Alan.
