On the recomendation of a seasoned trail rider I was talking with at the TRF meeting the other night, I bought a pair of these:

http://www.silvermans.co.uk/AdvancedSearch/tabid/96/Default.aspx?Search=boot liners

I paid for next day special delivery as I wanted them for a trail ride on Sunday, and I'm glad I did. Most of the local trails are considerably more challenging than they normall are because snow is still an issue, and where it has melted it's left either deep water or very soft and sodden ground.

A couple of times during the day I was stood in water well up to my shins, and although my boots let plenty in, when I got home I was amazed to find my socks were still absolutely bone dry. As a result my feet were only 'cold' as opposed to frozen stiff.

Terrific piece of kit, wish I'd got some years ago.

I use sealskinz water proof socks when i go trail riding now.
100% water proof , and they keep your feet warm.

You can get them on ebay £21 a pair..well worth it.

MVP socks, made by seal skinz for the army ,i have used a seal skinz, gortex booties and found the mvp to be the best ,make sure you wear a thin pair of socks underneath to stop the sweat

I used to buy these from Silverman's in Leytonstone. Used them when working as a courier, matched with Sidi MX boots, made the feet sweat a bit but kept them warm and dry. Recommended.

Bought a set of Sealskinz when I went out to buy a new pair of boots and bought a new Adventure instead :augie Hated the them (Sealskinz that is) but the boot liners look a much better option. Oh and I bought a pair of boots a couple of months later :)
