Farkle future is bright. SUPERBRIGHT LED spotlights, CREE 10w LEDs & SuperMOFO HIDs

Ok, sit back and get ready for a read.....this may take me some time to do, but I promise it'll be worth it !

(If you like lights and farkles, you may want to have a box of kleenex ready as well :thumb)

As a lot of people know, I'm working as a business/development manager for a long established 4x4 company, JA4x4.

We have a very close relationship with Durite, one of (if not THE) biggest manufacturers and importers of high quality automotive , agricultural and marine electronics.
(We in fact build vehicles for the owners)

Anyway, to cut a long story short, having seen a lot of 'well I could maybe import these if there's enough interest' and a lot of other, really overpriced kit out there for sale, the same kit that we fit to Landrovers and some extreme off-road vehicles, we've done some work and have come up with some options which may well suit a lot of GSers, as well as any other off-road biker.

I didn't wash my bike before I fitted all these lights to it today, sorry :blast

I also didn't 'finish off' the full install as I'd normally do, so the eagle eyed or picky amongst you may well see bolt threads that would otherwise have been trimmed and the odd bit of wiring that wasn't tidies up.(especially with the 'BigMofoHids')

We also haven't gone down the route of showing photos of a pitch black space with these lights shining out in it.....those can be rather misleading (let's face it, with the correct exposure setting, a couple of candles could be made to look light spotlights :blast)

1) Single Superbright Gen3 LED Auxiliary lamp

13-XL.jpg

Small but powerful-
5W Superbright LED (Brighter than the average car headlamp, equivalent to approx 50w Halogen) but tiny and lightweight.......The beam pattern is ideal for a marker/flood light rather than a long distance spot beam.

Extremely low current draw, 0.3 amp at 12 volt dc. (means there would be no problem running several, PLUS heated grips and clothing etc)

Black powder coated die cast aluminium case- no cheap plastic mouldings here, these lights are solid !

Stainless steel adjustable bracket and 300mm flying leads. The lamp can be linked with additional units. (I haven't tried that, but the casing is designed so you can latch several together)

Protected to IP 67 (Totally dustproof and can be immersed in water up to 1m deep)

L 52 x W 52 x H 72mm. (Height obviously includes bracket)

As above, these are supplied with 30cm flying leads so there's no mucking about opening them up and connecting spade connectors to things inside (been there, done that, never again :blast)

The current draw on these lights is tiny......less than 1/3rd of an amp at 12v DC, but we would recommend wiring them to the battery directly via an ignition switched relay for 1200/canbus bikes. (Fuse panels, switches and relays can bve supplied at extra charge if you need them...please call us for details)
For 11xx models or any other non-canbus bike, the current is small enough to be piggy backed onto other lights, but legally, I believe they should be capable of being switched on and off independently, so you may want to run them through a switch and/or an ignition supplied relay.

SUPPLIED AT £110 a PAIR, POSTED Mainland UK, please call us or PM me for Ireland/Overseas postage)

2) Twin Superbright LED lamp

These are my favourites I think, for price and quality as a package :)

16-XL.jpg

22-XL.jpg

Small and very neat, but still rather bright!! (equivalent to 40w Halogen)

Twin 3 watt 12/24 volt 3rd Gen LED

Beam pattern long flood.....half way between a spot light and a short throw fog lamp.

Low current draw, 0.9 amp at 12 volt dc.

Polymer housing, supplied with stainless steel adjustable bracket

2m flying lead.

Protected to IP66.
(Completely dustproof,
Protected against low pressure jets of water, limited ingress permitted (e.g. ship deck)

Or put another way, perfect for a bike :thumb2

L 93 x W 56 x H 81mm.

Supplied and POSTED to you in mainland UK for £85 a PAIR
(again, Ireland and European postage may be more, please get in touch)

Waterproof Switches, additional fuse boxes for canbus bikes, relays and full wiring kit can be supplied at extra cost)

11-6-XL.jpg

As used on genuine PD bikes

3 beam patterns will be available, with interchangeable lenses to switch between them.....Right now, we only have the flood version in stock for immediate delivery.

Also known as VisionX Solstice solo (£97.50 or $148.99 each) and Denali extreme LED (list price $324.99 a pair, although that is complete with switches)

I'm not going to post the videos that Adventure spec went to Morocco to make in order to show off these lights, or the ones that Twisted Throttle made, but go look at them :thumb2

Super powerful but tiny 10 watt 12/48 volt 3rd generation LED

Equivalent to 100 watt halogen bulb output.

Low current draw, 0.75 amp at 12 volt dc.
So use with heated clothing, grips etc etc, or ideal for airheads with limited power generation capabilities)

Black powder coated die cast aluminium case
(these feel solid in the hand, like you could really lump someone with it....)

Polycarbonate lens (almost unbreakable)

Stainless steel adjustable bracket and sealed
connector socket/plug.

The lamp can be linked with
additional units, using supplied powder coated aluminium connection block......
fggf-XL.jpg

14-XL.jpg

Protected to IP 68
(totally dustproof,
Protected against prolonged effects of immersion under pressure.)

L 52 x W 52 x W 80mm. (or 52 mm square without bracket)

You could have three in a line, one flood pattern, one "Euro" (see above picture on box) and one pencil spot, or any number in any combination you want :thumb2

SUPPLIED, POSTED (mainland again) for £175 a PAIR

4) The BigMofoHID Spots

If you are of the wimpish , shy, retiring nature, please turn off now

THE ULTIMATE AUXILIARY LIGHTS???

25-XL.jpg

Normally fitted to extreme off-road vehicles.

Now let's not beat aboout the bush here...these are monsters.

They're heavy (2.5kg each) so you need a decent light bar (we do those too, reinforced for extra HD lights :augie)

These are 4 1/2 inch round Xenon HID lamps, spot pattern.

Really solid Aluminium body and hardened glass lens

7000k bulb (supplied, already fitted)

Fully integrated Ballast unit
(all part of the light internally, so no mounting of oversized ballast boxes in awkward places)

Complete with wiring loom including inline fuse and relay

Is it going to fit drekkly in to your canbus??

:nono

But we can supply appropriate wiring, aux fuse take off box and switches to make it a pretty easy job :thumb2
L 110 x W 130 x H 145mm.

When I bolted these on today, I was initially having a bit of a giggle.....but having seen them on, and knowing just how frikking bright these monsters are, I'm actually falling utterly in love with them :drool

28-XL.jpg

27-XL.jpg

Yes, I know I didn't trim off the bolts

Sexy as fekk though aren't they

These monsters are list price £302 EACH, (......you'll find them available online at places like THIS for a little under 300 quid EACH (add the vat to the price on that page)

OUR PRICE........£200 each delivered, mainland UK, registered tossers only

FITTING SERVICE

Yes, we will fit them for you.

You'll have to come to our big toy store shed near Colchester Essex, unless a bunch of you elswhere in the country get together and we can have ourselves a day out and a mass-fitting session :thumb2

Prices will vary according to what bike and what additional material/switches/etc we have to use, but it will be sensibly priced.

Delivery and availability

If you phone me up in the morning and say that you want 6 of everything, you'll have them all on your doorstep within 24 hours.(unless I'm on a tea break, in which case it could be 48 hours max)

Apart from the spot/pencil version of the square Cree lights, as I know there were only 2 in stock today (and I had them :augie)

Seriously though, we can get any of these out on next day delivery, signed for, as long as it's ordered before lunchtime on a weekday.....Saturday delivery is available but I think from memory it's about £10 more.

Have a look at the full Durite catalogue HERE if you need switches, fuses, fuse boxes, connectors, etc etc etc and we can add those to the next day delivery.

We can take paypal or BACS transfer (I ran over the CC processing machine with the supercat and we're waiting for a new one to come :censor:) or cash if you want to pick up your lights from us in Essex (tea, coffee and a hobnob all provided, plus a discount for us not having to post your lights)
NOTE....we are doing these lights at a huge discount for Tossers, so we will have to limit the number we sell to an individual.
Our relationship with our supplier would be seriously put under threat if they found their lamps going on Ebay through us, so please don't abuse it :thumb2

We've got a lot of work on for the next few weeks preparing a set of G4 vehicles for an Australian expedition...they need to be in their shipping containers in just over a week's time, so the best way of contacting us is probably to PM myself or Gert (Kloek here) ,
or you can try us on 01206 255094 (landline) or workshop mobile 07765 071063

Sorry fella ................ could you give me some more details .............. :augie

Are these available to Straight members of the site or just the ones that "bowl from the pavilion end"?:ymca

As you may probably not remember, I've got a BTBR lightbar and lights on my GSA. Can I unbolt the old lights, cut the cables and wire some of your new fangaly ones straight in?

Just as a reminder, here is my bike with the BTBR lights fitted. I've helpfully positioned the bike to show how the lightbar fits too.

If you didn't have that f'ugly head light guard fitted for bimbling around Essex, you could clean the light and save your self a large fortune:eek::P

Hi mate,

Interested in option 1, and I am just down the road so may pop in for a peek.

Have you got clamp type mounts so I could fit them to the Touratwat crash bars on the Super Ten?

Cheers,

Matt

Yes HunnyBunny, we even cater for your kind :P

Absolutely :thumb2

Your old lights will be wired through a relay and knowing BTBR, his wiring will be impeccable and almost certainly still fully functional, albeit the fuses may have gone 'poof' at some point since you chucked your bike down that granite slope :blast

His (YOUR) light bar is strong enough for all of the lights I posted above with the possible exception of the BIGMOFOHIDs .......they weigh in at 2.5kg each  so if you wanted a pair of those, I'd recommend getting a likkle triangular fillet welded in under the bend in the bar to man it up a bit.....the BIGMOFOHIDs also come on an M10 bolt, and IIRC, the light bar you have will only take up to an M8 bolt......and no, unless you have a decent drill press and a brand new sharp 10mm HSS drill bit, you won't be able to drill it out to M10....you'd have to add another hole (exactly what I did to mock-mount the BIGMOFOHIDs on mine as in the pics)

All of the other lights will fit and will be totally compatable with not only your bar, but your wiring and existing switches and relays though....in fact, because they are LEDs with such low power consumption, your existing wiring will be almost overrated for them........I'd probably put in some lower rated fuses than you probably have in place already so that the fuse goes poof rather than the lights which will unprotected by the comparatively massive fuse, if you see what I mean

The oval twin LED ones look very much like those Hellas you had and are a really nice package.....When they get the next shipment of the Cree spotlight lensed ones through, a pair of the ovals and a pair of the Cree spotlights will be a superb set-up :thumb2

As an immediate addition though, in your shoes David, I'd grab a pair of the twin led ovals :bounce1

Could you take a photo of the wee top light side on please ? :)

The square mount or the circular mount?

(Both are stackable, although I didn't link the circular ones up for some reason :nenau)

fggf-XL.jpg

Circular one on top. :thumb2

Are you insane??

It's dark and cold and and and.......

Doh OK, as it's you :kissy2

side-XL.jpg

Remember, I hadn't sorted the wiring or cropped off the bolt threads etc, so don't look too closely or you'll see stuff that wouldn't otherwise be there on a finished install, but that's one of the ikkle round stackables above one of the oval twin led units.

They are small and neat, but because they are solid ally casings, they are satisfyingly solid :thumb2

I must admit, I wish I'd linked a pair or more up to make a wall of them now...a couple of those mounted above a couple of the square Cree hypers would be the mutt's nuts!

Bill
Can you bring some samples to the raost?

TVM
Neil

Yep, will speak to supplier in the morning and get that arranged...

I won't be able to carry more than a pair of each, as it's a trader free zone this year, and I'll be two up camping so don't want to knacker stock too much, but yes, I should be able to do that :thumb2

Absolutely :thumb2
Cheers Bill. I'll need to do a bit of over-time to afford these, but I thought it might be another selling point to those of us that do have an existing set-up. You know, "Upgrades-R-Us" for the electrikery-challenged.

That's why I like the BIGMOFOHIDs so much......apart from the fact that they're BIG and v v v bright, the ballasts are all inside as an integrated unit......they do come with a full loom including the relay pre-wired, but if you have had any sort of lights fitted before, the chances are you'll already have the relay and switch fitted....

In that case, it's just matter of swapping the spade connectors one by one from the supplied loom's relay to your own already fitted one....a bog standard ISO relay has pretty idiot proof connectors arranged in an unmistakeable pattern, so it's literally undo on, plug it onto the corresponding pole, repeat and go!

Oh, and they are sexy as fukk too :augie

(just make sure you don't point them towards your tyre or you will melt the rubber :D)

The other lights, the LED ones, come with flying leads (that's spare wire dangling from their bottoms to you and me ) to connect drekkly to original wiring from a relay, or we can send out a relay , wiring , switches of various sorts and all the connectors to suit, including aux fuse boxes for those blighted by Canbus :comfort

Aesthetically (yes, I know ) you wan one BigMoFo one on one side and a smaller one on the other side to match the original headlights... Mock-up please, Bill ;)

Mr Hale sir......I will have at least one set of each at the hugmoist, and a set of spanners.

You will be more than welcome to mount them (fnaar fnaar) yourself and stand back to admire your beasty in the flesh :thumb2

I'm going to stress again....the BIGMOFOHIDs are BIG, and they are HEAVY.(2.5kg a side)

Any light bar is going to be a little challenged if it ventures OFF road with the BIGMOFOHIDs on, unless it's reinforced.....even the beak sub-frame might suffer in long term use with them fitted off road

I'm still going to bumg some on mine though :drool

I suspect the ideal position for the BMFHs may well turn out to be on a plate welded to the crash bars, but see them and fondle them (they are exceptionally fondleable :augie) at the Hograost and see what you think :thumb2

The other ones, the superbright LED variants, are all loely and light (200-350g IIRC) and you could easily stick two pairs on each side if you felt the urge to :)

The Oval twin LED ones are even lighter I think (cant scoll back up at the monent, my mouse is covered in LM grease :blast) as they are poly carbon plastic moulded casings :)
