Have just fitted the Fastway Evolution II F3 footpegs to my R1200GS and am very impressed with them. At 2.5 inches wide (fore-&-aft) they are about 60% wider than the standard pegs making them much more comfortable on long rides, and way superior when standing up. A possible disadvantage is that they are lower than standard but I haven’t scraped them yet, whereas I occasionally scraped the standard pegs on the R1150GS so who knows what the future holds. I didn’t measure the difference in clearance of the bottom of the peg, I know I should have, but the top of the Fastway peg (no rubber insert) is about 1” lower than the top of the standard peg with rubber insert, so you have about 1” extra legroom.
There is a slight glitch in fitting the left peg – you can’t remove the retaining pin of the footpeg without first removing the gear change lever, and you can’t remove that without a Torque (star head) socket, which of course most of us don’t have until BMW started using them on the R1200GS. Other than that, fitment is simple.
I have also fitted them to my F650 Dakar, they are that good in my opinion (the pegs that is).
They are not cheap, about $165 in Australian Dollars and $110 is the US, but worth it for the added stability and control when standing, and extra support and comfort when touring. It would be easy to fabricate some rubber inserts if you didn’t need the extra grip of the cleats.
Check out the pegs at www.fastwayperformance.com/evopegs/

Ciao,

Thanks for the info.

Thanks, for the feedback. The narrow pegs have been quite an adjustment for me. I've been used to a little more substantial peg, so the larger peg is just what I'm looking for.

Thanks again, CaptainGS

Hey Vampire,

Did you get these from Ballards? and did they have them in stock.

Did you have to get the 400 collar?

Cheers

Vampire,

Love those Pegs! Question; Does the added width cramp the shifter? Otherwise I'm ready to purchase. Thanks, Garth

Yes, I got them from Ballards. Don't know if they have them in stock, I ordered them and it took about three weeks to arrive. I ordered them specifically for the BMW so they came with the correct collar. I think Geoff has fitted them to his R1200GS.

Depending on the boots you wear, you may have to adjust the shifter up a little, and it does reduce the distance from the front of the peg to the shift lever arm, so you may need a little adjustment in technique as well.
But I haven't found it to be a problem.
You might make an enquiry on www.advrider.com under the GSpot thread as I believe a there are a lot of Fastway peg users on that site.
