been searching nothings come up, i know somebody here has done it as there has been some pics flying around.

somebody said it was Sgt bilco but he's denying all knowledge of it

may have to kidnap him and apply some Snowboarding

any ideas

I'll be interested in what you find out regarding this Chad. I slightly bent my bars a couple of weeks ago in Scotland when my 1100 tried to have a lie down on a ferry.

I wouldn't mind replacing them with some fat bars but I also need risers for me bad back (currently Jaws 1" up 5/8" back but depending on the bend of the bar, this might change). I'll be keeping an eye on responses to your thread

I am running Migsel risers(35mm), Reikon Fat Bar converters(http://www.reikon.it/dettagli/baradaptor1.htm) and Renthal Fatbars( Actually they are Renthal Twinwall model no: 922) on my GS1100. They are great and haven't bent yet!
I rewired the heated grips so that the wire for the power come out of the inboard end of the grip instead of the other end with some slack in the cable and a couple of cable ties for strain relief. Then I epoxied into the open ends some ally bar stock suitably sized in advance of course, drilled and tapped it and fitted the bar end weights back on.
All in all just a money exercise and a few hours in the shed really. I love the bars as the bends are more ergonomic for me and the conversion adds a bit more height due to the adaptors too which is a bonus. The vibes are not worse than usual if the bike is set up well, but if you get a buzzy mirror you know it is time to do a TB balance anyway. Sorry no pictures.

So, just to replace the handlebars with straight forward replacement Renthals ( ie same position etc ) what model/serial number is required ( and where from ) Fat bars look to much work/expense for the same result.
Anybody done this ( I will just drill out a hole in the lower centre for the heated grips

I've got the 'Ricky Bars' on my 1150. Converted about 6 years ago, and I'm not sure he's doing them any more, as I believe he was not very well. You can have a look at: http://patineto.smugmug.com/

His name is Ricardo Kuhn Patineto. A real good bloke and his bar risers/fat bar conversions are a s work of art! He used to offer all bends of bar to suit individual heights. I have Renthal 'Pastrana' fat bars on mine.

My mate converted his using Touratech risers and Magura bars. Also pretty good.
