Fatboy as a daily bike?

I dunno but I think I'd go with a RK over a Fat Boy also, if for nothing other than the bags. Where do you carry all your stuff on a FB?

I really fancied a Softail Slim but not sure that it would be very good with a pillion.

Your first instinct is normally the best one. You can get a pillion postage stamp... sorry seat for it if you like.

Prefer mine without so I can chuck all my shit on it. :D

I'd love one of them, you could always chuck a sheet of newspaper over the guard to stop the pillion scratching it!

I love the Slim but just prefer the Fatboy.

Thing is that Chester HD don't have any demonstrator Softails at the moment so will have to try one out elsewhere.

Called at Hanley HD this morning for a test ride and really enjoyed it, despite the weather.

What a great little dealership and really helpful. They even have an ex-hairy bikers Victory there for sale at the moment - signed and everything...

Offered a really good deal on a bike in their showroom, so pondering now. It's just that I really wanted black and this was Amber Whiskey.

Is that gold or is it a bronze, i've seen a few that colour and each time it looks different?

I think that it's either or both - just depends on the light.

Well after all of your advice and a test ride, I've ordered a Fatboy in vivid black.

I think that less is better on these bikes so am thinking of just the following at this time and would appreciate any thoughts:

Daymaker headlamp - is it worth it?

Sissy bar and detachable rack, for the odd pillion and office / overnight bag.

Slip on mufflers for the sound - would you bother?

Congratulations!

As far as the Daymaker headlight? I went with a Truck-Lite LED. At least as good IMO and far less money. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=trucklite+led+harley

I'm not familiar with FB accessories but Harley's back rests and bars are usually well thought out. I have the individually detachable rest and rack and really like it.

Mufflers? Personally I like how the newer Harley's sound stock. Harley's 4" Touring mufflers are the next step louder. Not being able to leave well enough alone I tried them on my 09 FLHT. While they were ok for short rides the droning got old on longer rides so I put the stock mufflers back on. I get more compliments on my stock exhaust than most guys do on their loud ones, only from different people. :D

I dare say that if I switch the headlamp to a Truck-Lite it'll void the warranty.
Won't bother with the mufflers.
Ta!

LOL I can't imagine light bulbs being covered under warranty. Regardless the Truck-Lite (or most any LED) will probably outlast the bike.

If you swap some things over here for non-original, then it really can void the warranty on the car/bike.

I wanted to fit reversing sensors to my s/h car, which has two-years warranty on it. They said that, if I did, the warranty wouldn't remain in place.

Anyway, five more sleeps before I collect the new bike...

:chickendance

Oh well, she was delivered to me on Saturday, as I had to stay round the house most of the day.

Anyway, managed an hour or so ride towards Chester along the A56 and back through Tarvin and Delamere Forest.

Hadn't ridden for about two and a half years, on mainly a GS, so it seemed a little weird at first.

Took her to work and back today.

It's strange getting used to a heavy cruiser as oppose to a more nippy and nimble GS but it's a great bike and I'm really pleased with her.

Tried to price an outdoor cover but £146 for an HD version!

Fuck that!
