Checked the fault codes of my bike and the only code was 1111, it means CO potentiometer fault. What does it actually means, what should I do to fix it? Or how can I make sure it wasn't the fault code 0000 ie no faults?
My bike is ´94 GS, no cat, stock exhaust and everything, 70 000 kms. Engine actually runs very well, I haven’t found any major problems. I compared my bike with another 1100GS and there was no significant difference in performance. Only thing is low mileage, average consumption in the city is above 8 l/100km and in the highway (100-120 km/h, two-up usually) above 6.5l/100 km. I don’t think the problem is in my riding style, I’m really gentle with the bike; never rev the engine above 3000 revs in the city traffic and no merciless trashing around at all. I run this bike second season. I really can’t remember the mileage from the last year but I think it hasn’t changed very much.
I've done all the maintenance by myself, bike has good plugs and all the filters are recently changed.
There are two issues more, actually. First, every time after I've done reset to the Motronic (by removing 5th fuse) the engine seems to run smoother and quieter, but just during the first ride after the reset. But this might be just my imagination.
Second one, I looked inside the Motronic. I found from there a chip with the sign “Made in Indonesia” and a piece of white paper glued on it with some printed numbers. Is it the original factory chip or might it be some weird tuning one? There wasn't any label like BMW or Bosch or anything on that chip. I didn't take any photos though of the chip.
Cheers,
