Hi,

Using the GS911 I've turned up a curious fault code on a 2007 GSA.

41758 - Battery Positive (KL30) Over voltage

I've been searching through the forums and the wider web but haven't turned up any information.

Can anyone shed any light on this code?

Thanks,

What fault were you looking to trace with the device?

If you just plugged it in for fun and were not aware of any problems before, maybe just put it away?

Do you get a message that says: 'Fault not present now' ? If so, definitely ignore it.

Good point. It shows as a current fault.

I put a multi-meter across the battery and it read just over 12v ignition off and a little under 12v ignition on.

A little more investigation maybe

I'm sure someone will come along with a bit more info, but if after clearing the code, rerun bike keeping your eye on the voltage shown on the gs911, at the same time connect a voltmeter across the battery terminals, (preferably with a record function if available) I 'think' the ECU is detecting over voltage, this can be a sign of the alternator starting to play up, or even a weak battery.. Can sometimes lead to light bulbs blowing excessively... Pretty unusual fault I think.
Might need to give it a good rev for a minute or 2, then possibly 3k for a minute or so..

Dont panic straight away though...
Hope this helps..

you need to..

You may need to put the voltmeter across the battery when the engine is running. You may find it overcharging.
Thats why the battery monitor was born.:augie

Took the advice given and cleared down the fault.

Then ran the engine watching the GSS911 real-time values for battery voltage and cross checked with a multimeter. As I ran engine I turned on/off the high beam.

Both read a steady 14.5 volts which is between the 13 to 15 volts that the Haynes manual suggests should be registering to check the charging system.

Once the snow recedes I'll check it again once I've run the bike out.

Thanks for the feedback and advice 8)

Location

I know this is off topic but..
Nyon.? Close to the jet d'eau ? I came for the day late october & rode round the lake, I was surprised there was no charge to walk up to the fountain & take pictures, makes a refreshing change.!
Am intending to return & do a bit of shopping & sightseeing next year, as u say, when the snow has gone..

It's a small world..
Regards.
Phil
