Hi folks,
filled the bike up today (1150 GSA) to the brim and the fuel gauge wont go any higher than 3/4 with about 3 bars unlit. Always worked fine up untill now. Had the tank pivoted up at the rear a fortnight ago to swap battery but used it for 250 miles since and all has been fine untill today. Black connector box on right hand side of tank is clean and seated properly. Put a bottle (320ml) of Wins Dry fuel in when I filled it up but cant see that this would affect it.
Any ideas folks. Driving me mad. Goes up then down of it's own accord.
cheers
Kev

Funny that! I lifted the back of my tank the other day and my guage (on a freshly filled tank) doesn't show the top bar anymore! Guess I'll be cleaning my sender too!

It's the block connector. Pull off the black plastic cover under the right hand side of the tank and you'll see the electric block connector. Pull it apart and it will probably be corroded on the pins, spray it with WD40 or similar and put it back together and pull it apart again several times to clean the pins. 2 minute job and no tools required :thumb

Could it not be the float is caught on something if you've been tilting the tank about.

Very likely but unleaded fuel leaves a residue on the guage sender which can lead to faulty readings, that's why I suggested cleaning it:thumb

Either way, it's needs to be removed to sort it:D

Dont think the block connecter is at fault. Had it apart and it looks clean as a whistle. Tank was only tilted up a wee bit to fit the battery. Probably no more of an angle as if you were going down a very steep hill. Siphoned a gallon out of the tank and the bars went up slightly. Tank was low when I changed the battery so maybe a wee bit of shite has trapped the float. Not going to even think about taking it apart. Hopefully when I run the fuel down to low and fill up again it will be unstuck. Will spray the connector with wd40 anyway.

I experienced the fuel gauge not showing full whem filled up, this coincided with fitting a new battery, it clears itself after a while. It also happened with the connector block once before, sprayed with contact cleaner, ACF50 been alright since.
