Riding along to the Peak District and back today, my LCD display became progressively darker. The symbols that should've been dark (ie black) looked fine, like the odometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge, but the clear background looked as if it was a "badly wiped Etch-a-Sketch board". In other woirds, the clear background looked dark as well, in an uneven kind of a way. Everything worked fine and after a while it improved. It did the same on the return journey.

Do they all do that, sir?

Yep, if it was a warm day, or in direct light, the LCD goes dark.
At times, I cant read what my display indicates.

You nailed it............."Yes Sir, they all do that!"

Yeparoony, Mine too, I thought it was just my bike! so Im strangely pleased. It happened yesterday with the sun directly on it for 3 hours, interestingly it returns to normal after switching off for five minutes or so.

Yep, hard to read when ferkin' hot...
I think the new one ('06) has a new display for this reason.
I know its niave of me to think, but you'd reckon if the problem has been rectified in a new model, then ours should be a warrantied manufacturers defect.

Had two replaced under warranty. They recover for a while but mine then gave in all together. 04 early model.
