Bit odd. My left indicator has developed a fault where intermittently turns on and won't switch off. I have to hold down the cancel button to stop it indicating but it doesn't reset it. After a while it'll turn itself off but will start randomly indicating again later.

I'm on the road currently so just pulled out the relay to turn them off completely (bit dodgy to start indicating left for no apparent reason, particularly near a junction!).

My guess is a fault in the indicator switch, but before I take this apart, any other thoughts? Maybe the relay at fault?

The little rubber seal around the switch mechanism has split over time water has got in and the water is shorting the switch contacts which are normally separated by a plastic blade

best to strip it and if there is not too much green corrosion on the little arms fill it with vaseline and rebuild and smear the inside with vaseline just before fitting onto the mounting again

Hi Bruce,
do a search for microswitch , there are some good pics on here that show the rubberseal around the microswitch, and info about microswitch replacement as well.

So stripped and revealed microswitch. All cleaned out, contacts still sealed. Still intermittently indicates even when microswitch hanging out. So I guess I need a new switch unless there's another weak point? Wouldn't be a relay problem right?
