Fax by EMail

Pretty sure there's a fax service included with Win XP, if you have that ?

Look in 'Add'remove programs' in Control panel, and Add/remove windows components.

Have used it yonks ago trying to remember how thou:rob

i think you just type in the address bar
fax [01352*******]
or some thing like that. Some one who does no will be along shortly i guess.

you can fax straight from your PC with windows if you have a modem/dial up line connected.
Given a FAX requires the use of a telephone call and therefore a charge, I doubt you'll find a free service that will accept an email and then make a call on your behalf to send the fax

Many ISP's include a fax2email service in their 'value-added' services. The only proviso is you use it at least once in 3 or 6 months (varies between suppliers). They get their fees from your fax no being a national rate number, it costs you nothing.

All the others lke eFax and YacFax and the like use geographical STD's, impose no limits but they are subscription based services, i.e. you pay.

If you are using MS Office there is the choice to send a document as a fax, all you need is a bog standard 56k fax/modem.

A Fax 2 Email service is generally used for incoming faxes, the fax is sent to a service which adds the fax to an attachment and emails it to you. It means you can pick up your faxes anywhere you are. I *think* this is what Gerry is after.
