a went to the spar shop the night for a wee pouch of baccy and the wee lassie said " is that aw sir ? " an a said " naw , gies a boattle o tonic wine an a boatle o russian standard " , noo am no proud o masel , an av drunk the tonic ( first drink since a went doolally ) a feel ok . am gonny have 2 wee vodkas , then am off tae bed , nane o that , need to drink the full bottle tonight shit !! , am no proud , but shit happens , a prommise tae behave though !! :augie:augie
 
just supping ma second hoff now and in total control , going to bed in 10 mins ,, dunno how i feel , think i'm dissapointed in myself for having a drink , but in the same instance , happy that i know to limit myself and go to bed ...... only time will tell , ,,,,, i will say this however , i have had the best christmas and new year ever with the kids and wife ( 100 % sober ) ,,, but i just dont know if i could do it forever ...... it's a fine balance.. only time will tell :augie:augie

That's very true. After many years of being a complete piss head who felt obliged to get aff ma feckin' heid every night,I packed in boozing TOTALLY for about 18 months. It was my lovely wife (married 27 yrs) that eventually talked me into trying a few tins now and again,she said I'd turned into a right miserable old c#nt.
However.......I'd got it out of my system. I no longer felt I had to get to the bottom of the bottle, just a couple of tins or a dram (large) was O.K.
Same with the cigs. I gave them up about 18yrs ago but I still enjoy a "herbal" one regularly.:spl1f:

I wouldn't be too hard on yirself there Kirky, we all have weakness but look at what you have achieved, sober festive season, recognition of your limits and know when to knock it on the head :thumb

no long buried my brother in law (youngish man) it got oot o hand wi him and he just culd not get it under control lost the lot ,then his ane life which wis a tragedy as he wis a really nice guy before he lost it
