Sounds like a spelling issue to me :D:D

When ye pore manne came in site, gathering winter feul....

Gathering feul

You must realize we don't get out much, we have the feul delivered!.

Tank doesn't strictly have a reserve. What you've got is a blob of floaty material on the end of a thin stiffish wire that rises and falls with the level of petrol in the tank. Blob and wire connected to a "sliding switch" thingy that lets the appropriate electronics know what the level of fuel is. Each and every bike will be slightly different (floatability of blob, bends in wire, way it's been bolted up).

You just have to get to know your own bike (in your case - light on - find garage quick). Or bend wire so you get more warning.

I think :D

You could of course have a litre or two of water in the bottom of the tank.
