Back in August I’ve fitted upon recommendation, a Fiam horn, to replace weezy KTM unit that even mosquito buzzing seems to be louder compared to it.

Now I hadn’t paid any attention to it until I rode to Sid’ in France, having used the horn in an attempt to blast it for a couple of seconds, it just gave me a “peep” followed by a “General Failure” message appearing on the dash. Press the horn again for 5 seconds but it still just gave me a single “peep” and that was it.
Turn the bike off and on again and the message has gone. Press the horn, and it is back.

Steve on our trip suggested something to do with the resistance. It is all far too scientific to me, so I am looking for advice and a solution please. Otherwise I am going back to the weezy KTM horn.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Ev - mate of mine has fitted aftermarket louder - probably more current hungry horn to a 1290GT, will drop him a message and feedback as I know he had to fiddle/faff a bit to get it sorted with no error msgs etc.

Thank you mate!

The Fiamm horn draws 4.5 amps - probably more than the OEM horn.

Have you tried using a relay?

Bit like a tarp ;) an interface between Bike & horn
You’ll never understand the tarp bit for as long as you in possession of your Hobbit palace. 🤣

I believe the resolution to my horn woes has been found now. Just a matter of getting it done.
