Hi Andris,
If FD went again within just 1 year lifetime it was deffo shimmed wrong! With 90+% certainty. It just eats the bearing alive when it's preloaded (shimmed) off the spec.
I see you're getting a complete FD assy now instead of replacing+reshimming bearing? If so then it's better - much easier to replace. But if the new one blows up again within a short time/mileage period, then you know it's shimmed wrong.
Correctly shimmed new bearing should go well beyond 50 000+km on R11xx/850 bikes if you do correct oil changes. Mine has gone 100 000+km and that's two up full gear (bike is loaded to around 450kg most of the time!). I do oil change in gearbox & FD around every 10 000km too tho.
Take care, Margus
Mine spotted the rear rim with oil over 50,000km,s ago at 55,000km,s did not reshim and did not change the seal, not an issue since and my riding is a high proportion of gravel and washboard etc etc... if it was gonna fail it should the road conditions ridden...
