Final drive compatibility Q

Is the final drive from an 08-10 gs gsa
A straight swap for the one on my 07 gsa

From what I have found out it will physically fit.
The gear ratio is slightly different. 31/11 on older and 32/11 on later.
The issue seems to be the speed sensor?

My 07 bike is non abs so that should not matter.

Hopefully someone out there in gs land knows a definite answer

The later drive has a bigger bearing inside so a bit tougher but TBH they are all fragile.

If I recall correctly, somebody tried it in the past and they had no speedo or ABS function due to the crown wheel speed sensor ring being machined differently inside the unit.

Check the frame number of your bike and If possible the other bike on www.realoem.com

if they both use the same speed sensor then you will be okay

It was the 04 - 06 that had one speed sensor then the "MU" o6 - had a different one meaning that you could not use the later drive on your earlier bike

I do not know about the versions after mine But the same speed sensor part number would be a good indicator that they are interchangeable

I think the toothed ring inside is different so it won't work in your bike ie your speedo won't work. Not a 100% sure what point that changed to be honest but something to be aware of.

Not sure of that Marki with the earlier ones it was a total different resistance but with the same sensor as a retrofit there's a "fair" Chance it will work

Just removed wheel and checked speed sensor.
I have the later one

So the unit will fit.

The sensor was fitted from 08-2006

My bike was first reg 03-2007 so thought I best check.
