Final drive gone 1150gs

Left sunny East Kilbride today with a few mates. Got about 30 miles down the road and stopped in a layby to find the final drive oil pouring out quite the thing. Anyway, i got the bike transported over to BMW Glasgow. The big question. How much do we think they will bump me to replace the bearing and the seal? Hey we could make this a competition. who ever gets the nearest can pay it.

It's about £50 for a bearing and seal from Motorworks, so I'd say you will be looking at around the £200 mark.

I've got an invoice from a dealer. Big and little bearing were replaced. I think the bill came to £460. Paid by the previous owner when he had the bike. 3,000 miles later I have taken the same final drive back to the same dealer to fix it under warranty after it failed on me near Ullapool.

£200 sounds like a bargain to me.

Do it yourself mate, it's not a difficult job, £460! they saw him coming alright.

ok guys wee update, including crown bearing seals blah blah o and new rear brake pads £352.00 including vat. Bummer. but am getting her back good to go on Saturday
