This is from an R1200RT, 2006, but I'm not sure if pre or post August - I anyone can identify, I'd be well pleased!

(It's currently for sale on ebay)

It's been a while, but I seem to remember that around that time a bevel box drain plug was introduced. But the pic doesn't help with that. There might be others on the sale site ...

I think it was later. My early 07 had the 9 o clock drain.

On some German car castings, the manufacture date is cast in, inside round markings as seen the pic, one of which says 05. I can't read the other.

I think it was Sept 07 onward. I thought they all fit though?

My Feb 07 RT has a 2012 1200R swing arm and final drive (with breather) fitted. Prior to that the dealer fitted a replacement one under warranty with the drain located at the 6 o'clock position.

impossible to tell from that photo.
unfortunately the 2006 date is right around when they changed the size of the abs sensor and a few other things(pinion bearing size).
if you are after the unit to fit to a later bike(i seem to recall your g/s is @2007),and this is an earlier unit it will pysically fit but you will have no way to fit the abs sensor and fitting an early sensor i believe will also cause problems .
why are you looking for a replacement?
i can probably rebuild your original unit without any drama:thumby:

If it helps, I would highly recommend Mike, if you do decide to have your original unit rebuilt. He did mine and was brilliant about all aspects of it. A mention in dispatches for Arkwright of this parish too, who was also really helpful, picking my bike up for transportation to Mike for a nominal sum (I don't live in mainland UK).
Cheers,
Neil

If you are lookingat a cheap option by getting one off EBay, you fo need to factor in the possibility that it may not be long for the world...If it does fail you will need it rebuilt, MikeyBoy does such a good job of rebuilding it will be worth while considering geting youts rebuilt by him instead, if that is an option. It does not answer your original question I know, but his work is well recommended and avoids a world of pitfalls.

Hey Mike.
This is a unit I got a hold of a while ago - I'm selling the bike, so it's now surplus to requirements. It's hard to sell if you don't know what it'll fit! If not shown in this picture, how do I tell?

remove the abs sensor, the later one has a green o'ring seal and an alloy washer.
the early one has a black seal and no washer.
hope this helps.

Hi Babble, I get your question now.

Look up the final drive at realOEM.com, look at the part numbers for pre- and a pst- Augus unit; the black cover behind the drive flange changed in August 2006. Yours is the earlier one, it has the part number 7678445. After August that part was numbered 7699859.

Hope that helps?
