LRR, I think Steady Away has hit the nail on the head. I had a monster opposite lock slide at an unfunny kinda speed, when I was going up the Dales to Alston, between two dry stone walls as well. Fair enough, there was cack on the road, but I have always been sort of unsettled about the whole thing. The whole thing just let go when I was cranked right over, no warning, nothing. That hasnt happened before, no matter how stupid I have been. Something wasnt right, maybe this is it.
The only time I have used the bike since, was last weekend, to try out the new chip and get the running gear hot enough to drain the oil. Again, the roads were covered in cack, which has never bothered me before, but the bike didnt feel right. Infact I chickened out on all the hard acceleration / top speed runs. I blamed it on the road conditions but its never stopped me before.
I was thinking it may be the tyre, which is fairly new but well run in. To the extent that if it felt the same I was going to stick a new one on. I know I am a bit numpty with some things (remember Croft and the wheel spindle). I have a feeling there is something not right (might be me) but its coming apart and unless it is mint, I am sticking some new bearings in the thing.
PS: Sorry about the tank bag jibe, my turn to get me coat
