I have seen a few pictures of a final drive oil change, it looks a real hard procedure for what should be a simple task. Why no accessible filler plug, changing the R1100 and 1150s oil was simple.
I'm now wondering if the long diagonal screw fixing the spray guard to the diff is a filler plug. There looks to be a hole at the bottom of the thread. Has anybody tried to fill the diff through this hole?

I've done mine, (2007 1200gs) it's a piece of cake, takes a while but appears more daunting on paper than it really is.

If you'd like to chat about it send me your number and I'll call you tomorrow.

Cheers.

Check out youtube, there are a couple of good videos step by step,
I found it helpful as it did look daunting.

On later bikes there is a drain plug at the bottom of the drive housing. You fill by taking the back wheel of and filling through the speed sensor behind the wheel. Bit of a pfaff to get the sensor out, just be careful to make sure you don't nip the 'o' ring!

What year is it?:D

Done mine and I'm a complete spanner when it comes to stuff like this.

Simple as pie matey, whilst doing that don't forget to change the gear oil, after doing both of those bike feels like new again.
