final drive seal changeout .

Could anyone explain the procedure to replace the final drive seal please . I can change the fd oil as per the excellent thread on this site so it's just the seal bit . I am new to the bmw thing and unimpressed that this seal is gone after 7000miles , but i'll keep trying .
