Hi Guys
I have a problem with my 07 gsa k25 0382 0397 Had the gearbox drive shaft and final drive off for new clutch plate and gearbox seals. When i refitted the fd i have a leak from the sensor had no resistance when pushing the sensor home? replaced the silver shim twice still leaking, asked a bmw independant mech about it and he said i am missing a o-ring, not sure if this is correct as i have the gen 1 FD which only shows the silver shim, I tried to fit the green o ring but it did not look like it was fitting in nicely. Is there a different o ring i could use and what code i require or is the sensor knackered?.

Also is it possible to fit a gen 2 senor in to a gen 1 final drive just asking as gen 2 senor way cheaper then gen 1 sensor if i need to replace said sensor.

It should have an O ring

And a centering ring

They are shown on the final drive page, not the brake system pages

I wouldn't mind having a guess, that the O ring was left in the rear drive casing, on removal, and potentially pushed in , on refitment

Hi Guys

Thanks for the info, I did a bit of digging and found that the bike is a Jan 07 which i think should of had a gen 2 final drive but the previous owner must of had a reason to put a gen 1 on it, so i have gen 1 parts on order.

if you mean you think you should have the breather near the brake caliper - I doubt it - mines a Jun 2007 and it has the earlier version

it self destructed at 42 k miles from silent when riding and no play to gone in a week

Rang the local Motorrad this afternoon and gave them the vin and reg of bike on their system it should have had a gen 2 final drive but bmw used up the last of gen 1's until august/sept 07 some of the early gsa's did get gen 2.

Hence giving model year and month of manufacture when asking for help on here, that way if your month of manufacture runs into a model year change / mid year uplift , you can work out very quickly if there are potentially cross over parts fitted.

The good news is your going to get the right bits you need :)

oh, so you mean UK market got the duff ones ?

Hi Guys

Just a bit of an update as said before bike should have had a gen 2 final drive but now has a gen 1 I brought a new gen 1 speed sensor fitted nicely to the final drive no leaks, went to plug it in to the conection under the seat only to discover the conection is for a gen 2 speed sensor took conection on bike apart saw a small white piece of plastic which i removed and speed sensor conection fitted in nicely.
