The TailGunnerTM is a 15 Liter hard Tail “case” that is water & dustproof, lockable and secures to you bike via the OEM passenger seat mounting points with our patent pending GSessoryTM mounting plate. Just use the bikes key to release your passenger seat, then slide and “Snap” the TailGunner into place. It locks automatically. No tools or modifications to your bike are required. Use the bike’s key again to remove it.
The TailGunner fills the gap for secure storage, between your bulky panniers and a canvas tail or tank bag. Going out for a day trip? The TailGunner is perfect. It keeps all your valuables safe and dry; with no “bag” to carry around once you’ve parked. You can leave it with your bike and feel secure in knowing you’re locked up tight, and rain won’t soak your stuff.
Other great features include: Thick dual wall, ABS construction that is extremely tough. Although GSessories does not recommend it, you can actually carry a 100 - 150 lb. passenger on top of The TailGunner as if it were a seat. Because of this ABS construction, all your Bluetooth electronics; XM radio, GPS, Cell phone, and toll collection devices will transmit and receive signals while safely locked inside. Try doing that with aluminum.
GSessories knows the diversity of the BMW R1200 GS. So we designed the TailGunner to be just as diverse. Available in many custom finishes, and "paint to match" BMW factory colors. Please feel free to contact us with any special requests. We will do our best to oblige. www.GSessories.com

Can the box lock be coded to the ignition key? or do you have to have a different key?

Frankh, the first generation of TailGunners had a wafer style key. We have since upgraded to a high quality barrel style key which work very nicely. I know it is more about convenience but unfortunately I couldn't get the BMW lock to work in this application. Another problem would be supplying and maintaining them. If you go to our site and sign in, I will keep you posted as to upgrades to our products. That may become one of them.

I think the TailGunner looks amazing and have to say that when I emailed Guy a question on shipping that I got a very quick (and pleasing) reply. Needless to say I have just placed an order and look forward to posting a few pics when I get it fitted. :aidan

Thank You Capt. Now I know you finally received my email. Very cleaver. I'm also sorry to anyone that has had a problem accessing our GSessories.com site or sending us email. It seems that Spam filters can put a legitimate company out of business these days. Our web guy (techy) says that I should ad a note on the site about it. So if anyone has had the same trouble and not received a response from us, feel free to contact us here on UKGSer. Sincerely, Guy Kemp, GSessories Inc.

Looks interesting.

But what I'd really like is a case like this fitting to the seat or rack that was big enough to carry my laptop/laptop bag.

Would be handy for most of my daily commuting.

The TailGunner and LapTop issue

Looks interesting.

But what I'd really like is a case like this fitting to the seat or rack that was big enough to carry my laptop/laptop bag.

This is a great point, and I really wish I could have made it fit...

When I started the TailGunner project, I was intending to create a nice little place to securely store my valuables (GPS, Cell phone, house keys etc) when out on day rides. But also have a sealed "box" for dual sport touring, that held items i didn't want getting full of dirt and mud. LOL, The thought of a computer didn't even exist to me. But as I started implementing the initial drawings, I tried very hard to design it in. However I was limited by the shape of the tail section of the GS. If you remove your passenger seat and lay your computer across it, you will see how it overlaps. I could have stretched the shape of the case, and I did play around with it (turned it up on edge / angled it etc), but it just killed the look and style of the package. The TailGunner was designed to flow with the contour of the bike. To look as if it were made with the GS. And it does. And also, it's really not that small. 15 Liters is more then a decent tail bag. In fact, my own personal TailGunner, at this very moment has a CruzTools GS tool pack, an XL Aerostitch windstopper jersey, a Leatherman Supertool, Tire repair kit, 2 pair of gloves, BMW cap, Sunglasses, Cigar lighter, GS Owners manual, and plenty of room left for the above mentioned cell phone, GPS and House keys.
The Good news is (for you laptop guys), I did design it to accept larger lids for future applications. Eventually you will see an "Extra Large" TailGunner. :thumb

GSessories TailGunner shipping issue

Something I'd like to mention is we are currently experiencing a web issue with our shipping options. If you go to purchase a TailGunner or any other GSessories product on our website, you will be given only the choice of UPS shipping. This is fine for our US customers, however it is almost triple the cost for the European buyers. PLEASE don't be discouraged. We are working on correcting the issue, but until then, you can email us, and we will make other arrangements for you. The actual shipping cost to Europe is around $65. US
Thank You for your interest in our products.
Sincerely, Guy Kemp GSessories.com

BTW... it's pronounced "GS-essories"

Yep I think it's a great idea and for my general daily usage - if it weren't for the laptop - it'd be a space I could use for storing spare gloves, waterproof oversuit, straps and bungees etc and I could leave my panniers at home. So I'd be tempted.

On my old RT that sort of stuff stuff went into the pocket at the side of the tank, on my old K1200RS I had the BMW "soft bag" with a plate on the bottom that could lock securely to the rack.

But as I prefer to not wear a rucksack and do need to carry the laptop I just end up leaving the panniers on the GSA, put the laptop in a messenger bag and place that in the pannier.

Perhaps I should ask BM/Touratech for a super slimline ally box to fit to my pannier mounts - wonder how much that'd cost me? :augie

The TailGunner from GSessories.com, alive and well

The TailGunner is doing well in the US. The shipping cost over seas is a little pricey. Any distributers interested in selling them? We have also added the Generation II mounting plate that allows you to switch the case from the pillion position to the GS Luggage rack for 2-up riding. GSessories now makes TailGunner mounting for the BMW F800GS, 650GS, K12+1300, and also the Ducati Multistrada 1200! Please give us a shout [email protected] www.GSessories.com

Would be interested in this if it was available in the UK, but shipping costs adding to the £200(approx) is a bit too much.......

Please,,, stay interested! For some reason the USPS site is giving out the wrong prices. It is only about $70-90 US, which is 49 - 63 Euro. Very affordable. If you order from our website, we always refund "over paid" shipping. We just shipped to Australia yesterday for $90. US. Delivery within a week.
So until we have a UK distributor, the shipping isn't that bad.

TailGunner Arrived

Received my 'TailGunner' today, looks like an excellent piece of kit. Well made and solid, good fit onto the pillion seat platform. V. good for all the bits and pieces you might not want to put in a topbox on a run and therefore same applies on tour.
Only issue, I got stung by customs on import duty but will make that back shouls I ever sell the GS.(Not in any near future).:thumb2

We are working on setting up distribution over seas but until then, we will start offering solutions for customers looking to buy TailGunners outside of the US. We are opened to ideas, so please call or email. [email protected]. Many Thanks.

what was the wash out cost including the customs duty?

TailGunner BMW Top Case Customs Duty

what was the wash out cost including the customs duty?

Just had a customer in the UK tell me they got him for $107. US. That was on a Valued Price of $299. US. If we drop the "Insured Value", I'm sure we can get that much, much lower.
