Wow! That looks bloody lovely! I personally prefer the gold wheels.

I am slightly surprised by you getting more wind blast on the GSA than the Explorer. I've ridden both and the GSA is like a barn door (and none the worse for that!).

I was surprised as well, as soon as I sat on the GS I could see much more over the top of the screen that I could on the Explorer with the screen at its highest.

I could feel it on my neck and even my shoulders and chest too. Will try a different screen and see if it helps.

Well I’ve only done 115 miles on it so far riding it back from Grimsby yesterday but I already love it.

Things I love:

TFT dash with the Navigator combine to make a lovely system to use. The TFT is stunning and well thought out.
Shift Assist Pro works great but still getting used to it.
Clutch is so much lighter and easier to use than my Explorer.
Headlight being LED is brilliant especially with the auxiliary lights.
Pulls deceptively well. Took me 50 miles or so to adjust to the fact it’s not a triple and the power/torque is elsewhere.
Heated grips are much better. Like the surface of the sun.
Brakes have so much bite and feel compared to the a Explorer even when it was new (it had Brembos).
Weight being low down meant it’s a joy to flick about. According to the BMW Connected app (which I also like) I managed a whole 30 degrees of lean angle but to be fair I was riding tentatively.

Things I’m not so keen on:

Wind blast as I’ve already mentioned.
Every little stone or imperfection is transmitted through the pegs like someone tapping the bike with a metal bar.
Engine at idle has a tappety rattle which is assume is normal?
Adventure top box is significantly smaller than my Triumph one but I’ll have to just live with it for now.
Throttle can be a little snappy when coming off the gas but that could just be me adjusting to the riding of it.
Navigator VI needs a lot of work to bring it to the level of the TFT, feels like it’s running Windows 95 versus the rest being Windows 10 lol

Overall I’m loving it and can’t wait to get back out on it.

Sorry I don't have a link but I think I bought mine on AliExpress. If you put "wind deflector BMW GS" in the search bar you should find it. There are more expensive solutions but this worked for me. Good luck!

Quick one, I've just noticed the bike has the BMW alarm system, I assume it's standard on the HP? Anyway, more important than ever to keep the battery tip top, I've always used an Optimate 3 on my previous bikes with the harness wired directly to the battery but I just wondered if people recommend that for the BMW? I don't fancy frying the electrics or causing a CANBus issue.

yes, fly lead to the battery (or remote post if an RS) is the best solution, always, for charging

Thanks chaps, seen that the new Optimate allows for charging via the DIN socket even with the CANBus system in play so thought maybe it was a BMW quirk.

I’ve just bought a 1250 GSA after owning 3 previous 1200 GSA and yep this generation is a little more rattly. I’ve queried it with the dealer and compared it to other 1250’s and yep “they all do it”.

No the alarm is an optional extra on the HP. I had to have the SOS feature as i put my name on a bike that was in production and the Dealer had specified SOS. I had the alarm fitted afterwards.
See you had the customary stop at the nearby service station which is where my photos were taken.

Sorry guys but i do not like the spoke wheels never had much prefer the alloy wheels. i may be in the minority but a lovely bike.

A friend has an 18 GSA and test rode the 1250 and he also found the throttle snatchy but wonder if BMW will do an update on the software to smooth this out
