After months of debating, head scratching and general buggering about, i've finally got myself a GS adventure (an extra fast silver one at that*!) :D .

The original idea behind buying the bike was cheap ish transport, but it's just occured after perusing several catalogues that it's quite possible to bankrupt yourself on aftermarket goodies!

So, to help me on my way to bankruptcy, and to start the ball rolling, which crash bars come highly recommended? I did ask about the factory bars, and was informed that i could have them for a mere snip at £600.....

<cough>

so back to the real world, which of the aftermarket ones do you all rate?

many thanks,

nathan

The dealer told you that did he? :rolleyes: They'll try anything to shift unsellable colours.....

Crash bars? Hepco and Becker are probably the most popular amongst us here, athough if you search for posts by "Caveman" you'll find some good-looking sturdy ones at a good price.

Oh, and welcome. :cool:

Thanks for the pointer steve! I had a look at both types of bars, but so far am favouring the H+B ones, as the others seem to have the cylinder head protection in the wrong place (above the head, not below it)...

And no, it wasn't the dealer that told me about the silver thing. I'd originaly gone to look at a black one, but missed it by 45 minutes :(

ho hum...i still have another week to wait before i can get my leg over, and it's starting to drive me nuts! :eek:

Over here they come with bars and fog lights, :confused: so what do you get in the UK for the extra money

I did ask the salesman what was involved, and why the cost was so high.

Apparently if you ordered the crash bars with the bike when originally purchasing it, they would only have set you back £250. Something to do with putting the bars on while the bike was being assembled, saving a lot of labour time, over doing it afterwards. But £350's worth of labour to fit at a later date? :nono

From what i could gather all you got was the crash bars...nothing else....
