Finally...

Fuel prices are a problem now

And 80% of it goes straight to the treasury in Excise Duty and VAT. Bastards! They then fritter it on a myriad pointless projects.

I've done less than 2,000 miles this year on the GS, all of it since the 2nd August when it passed it's MOT:D :JB

Long way to work, long way home, out Wednesday as an observer and a couple of Saturday runs, one all day.

In recognition of the cost of tax on my fun I've kept the top speed a bit respectable and tried to be smoooooth on the power so managed 244 miles on 22.15 ltrs from one tank, about 50mpg. To avoid braking and accelerating all the time you have to go around corners faster:D What an awful shame.:)

Heh Andy T - must have done your trip the other way round in July - ......... and finally up to Bernkastel area on the Mosel for the last few days.

You don't know how close to our trip that is as our first night is in BernKastel Kues for the wine festival:thumb2

Can't wait.

Sounds like a diesel bike is making more sense all the time!!!!!

Diesel bike!!!! now thats a notion that i have considered a few times,
some from Holland are starting to look quite usable and practical

JOCKTOBERFEST

I for one would be up for one more wee trip and maybe an overnight stay somewhere. We could meet up somewhere central and sort out a route to an independant hostel, I know about four or five in various locations but there are loads to choose from. If we get any takers I dont mind sorting out the booking of the hostel, saturday 1/10/11 to sunday 2/10/11 would suit me, hopefully this is enough notice for anyone interested, any suggestions for hostels and routes would be welcome. :beerjug:

Regards Steeevo

I havn't been out on my 1150 since Jockgrim last year:eek: I have however had a few trips out on my new Triumph this year but only about 1000 miles as the weather has been absolutely awful. I was only telling Rab last week I was hoping to get over to Skye for a blast but it has just lashed it down.

Anyway, I'm off to the wine festivals in Germany and meeting Bhud in Italy for more drinkls and onwards to Slovenia in 2 weeks time so cant wait:beer:

Johnny's right though we need someone to just organise a ride out (and I'm as guilty as everyone on this score)....
