Monkey might be a wee c/nt but he's still bigger than you so I'd tread careful :D

I have done some decent mileage this year, commuting, John O Groats to Lands End and back and a few Rallies. Can't be arsed going to look at the bike to get it accurate.

Last year I did an 8,600 mile tour around Turkey (plus France, Italy & Northern Greece). I guess riding on wet local roads doesn't inspire anymore :blast

Also, the trip cost over £6,000 - so I can't do that very often now that I'm a Pensioner :rob

Never fear . . The urge will return . . . I'll be back :thumb

Bob.

600 miles on an XR125, but seem to be on a bit of elastic as I can only go from home to Dyce on it :tears

In two weeks be heading down to the Alpes de Haute Provence on the GS :)

In Italy Well probably stay around Bormio, Merano or St Leonards and maybe Val Gardena...not 100% sure yet:thumb2

Still managed 15k this year.

Managed to get oot a fair bit this year - but fuel prices etc making it an expensive hobby:eek:
In Oban for a couple of days just now & had a run down to Tayvallich today.
Heh Andy T - must have done your trip the other way round in July - went down to Garmisch for the BMW weekend then through Austria staying a few days in Heiligenblut on the south side of the Grossglockner then into n.e.Italy then through the Julien Alps into Slovenia. Then back into Italy to Arabba in the Dolomites & then up past Merano & over the Stelvio etc to Breganz and finally up to Bernkastel area on the Mosel for the last few days.
Great trip - over 3000 miles & a hell of a lot of passes - but its not getting any cheaper over there

Cheers.........Grizzlyj:beerjug:

That brings back memories of our trip last year. Certainly haven't done that many miles since then. With fuel prices so high I only manage out 2 or 3 times a month now.

This thread put me in the mood to go out and despite leaving the house at 10:30 at night I had a good three hour odd run and only just back in the door (2am). Roads are so quiet and weather cool and dry. Took a wee detour into Philadelphia on the way home to see if I could spot Brad Pitt :D Saw a S.W.A.T. van, some yankee taxis/police cars and quite a lot of Hummers but no Brad. Did spot a Zombie having a wee snooze in a car

Sounds like a great trip.

Fuel prices are a problem now but we found that BnB acomodation was still much cheaper than over here and eating out was slightly cheaper, drink prices about the same as here. That was in Bavaria and Austria anyway...:beerjug:

I got a PM from someone on here who was recently in Germany. Him and his wife on a bike (might have been 2 bikes?) return from Newcastle. Includiing meals, the fare was over £700

Just seemed to add up to a lot this year - we were over 3k this year which feels like a lot for a bike touring holiday? - we were away nearly 3 weeks but even so I don't think we've ever been that much before.
Fuel is about the same except Switzerland and Slovenia which were a bit cheaper. Guest house type accommodation was about the same. Eating & drinking were very variable - sometimes beers & coffee were similar to here, next time It's twice the price for no apparent reason! Meals are about the same & of course the exchange rate is still crap!
But you need a decent holiday and we had a great time.

Cheers ......Grizzly :beerjug:
