Finding an Address - Driving me mad!

I am trying to find an address on a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx, though I suspect the issue relates to all Mapsource-based maps.

The address is:

## Silver Birch Drive, Baldovie, Angus

So, starting with the "City", I type in Baldovie. It finds it no problem.
As soon as I move to the Street field and start typing 'S', it says not found (meaning it knows of nowhere in Baldovie that starts with an 'S'. So I can't go any further.

I have tried substituting Baldovie for other local town names to no avail.

Then, I have used other software to find the map coordinates of the location I need. If I input these into the GPS and view the location on the map, bingo, I see Silver Birch Drive on the map!

So, why can't I find it in the database?

Map is City Navigator 2011.

Any help appreciated

Because it's Garmin. No help to you I know, but these kind of things are well known. There are whole towns which can't be found in the database, but can be chosen as waypoints by clicking on the map.

Good job the maps/software are so cheap - oops they're not, my bad.

I tried this on my Zumo 550 to see if I could find it & experienced the same problem.

Pain in the bum I know...........Whenever I can't find an address I stop entering the city & get it to search all. Normally find what I'm looking for, in this case it gave me 3 options & as I don't know where Baldovie is, I had to look at the other 2 to see where they were.

So, don't enter the city, select "search all" and then put in "Silver Birch Drive" (I got as far as 'Silver Bir' before it gave me results) and you'll find it's classed as being part of Dundee.........

That's cos we try to find it how we think we should be able to find it, not how the unit does If you go to Google maps as well, and type Baldovie in, it classes it as being a suburb of Dundee - probably due to postcodes being Dundee ones I would assume.........

You are right. Elsewhere it falls under Broughty Ferry which is itself part of Dundee. Trouble is, neither of those work when searching for this address

If it is simply a software problem then I guess I should accept it and move on. But it is annoying, especially if you don't minutely plan your trip in advance on your PC...

EDIT: I apologise. Dundee DOES work.

That's cos we try to find it how we think we should be able to find it, not how the unit does

or to put it another way, Garmin need to do more work on their interface. I use map source and it's so clunky and free of intuitiveness it makes me want to scream - imagine any Microsoft product from the 1990s

I know.................hence learning to do it their way. Not great I know, but if it finds you where you want
