Mapsource driving me mad

Basecamp isn't that bad. It's improved a great deal recently.

Wether you like Basecamp or hate it just get used to it because Mapsource will disappear very shortly.

can't believe i'm sassing nice things about any garmin software, but Basecamp is now pretty good.

i've been using it on my mac, and am actually quite impressed. i mean, i could be better, but after RoadTrip it's a 'kin miracle.

Google maps

to send google maps to your device you need to log into google by setting up an account

set out your route in google maps after you have plugged sat nav into your pc, make sure your sat nav is in pc mode

when your route is sorted click the send button on the top right hand side, its to the right of the printer option

this then should open another window, on the left hand side of this window it should give you an opton to "send to"

pick the sat nav option and follow the instructions

I tried this and it looks like it only sends the destination address:

That's the news coming out of Garmin. Plenty of posts about it on the gps forums.

Why don't you use the garmin road trip software that comes on the CD and then send it to the device?

I have done this many times without any issues.

I think Road Trip is MAC only?

I tried Bascamp on my PC and it's not too bad TBH. Takes a little getting used to but won't be an utter disaster if they phase out Mapsource.

Road trip is an old piece of Mac software that was probably an embarrassment to Garmin

Basecamp is the replacement
