Finding new gear!

order it online to be in stock using their "try before you buy" service - they say it can be in store by Sunday
I’ve done exactly that for the Leeds store. I’ve just been informed that we’re going next Thursday. Hopefully it’s going to still be there. Apparently we’re going for beers and steaks as well so even if I don’t find anything it’ll be a decent day.

Just having a look round for new riding gear. It would seem size 44 in just about every make is not available!! Very strange. I would have thought that size would be the most popular and therefore the size that retailers would keep in stock.
The Rukka Nivala 2 seems to be in stock in a few places but it’s a bit pricey for me.
Do we have any clothing suppliers on here? If so can they shed any light on why no one seems to stock size 44” jackets?
Have you tried Motocentral (10% discount using code UKGSER) or Motolegends? Both offer a price beat promise, so the Nivala jacket can be had for a considerably reduced price.

I've just ordered a Nivala 2.0 jacket and trousers set using the price beat offer.

Why not give Kate Jennings a try, at Hideout ......... https://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/

OTP or custom, along with excellent personal service.
+1 for Hideout or BKS 100SX textiles.

Considering the Nivala’s high price and low protection rating, I’m at a loss why people would want it. BKS 100SX and Hideout textiles are better in virtually every respect; I sold my Rukka and bought BKS.

I wouldn’t go back to Rukka after witnessing it shred in a crash. Don’t be fooled by Motolegends’ sales patter!

Update. I bought the Rev it Vertical jacket and trousers. Both Gore Tex and AA rated. I did look at and try on the Rukka Nivala stuff but it was just too stiff and very little protection for the money. I also tried on the Oxford Hinterland stuff, very stiff and sizing a bit strange with XL jacket but M to L trousers required. The trousers just didn’t fit right somehow. The klim jackets seemed to be just a collection of pockets sewn together and very box like in fit. I usually wear size Large but the Rev It gear is quite small so have the XL in both Jacket and trousers. Still not cheap but bought both for around the price of the Rukka trousers alone.
The Rev it jacket came with elbow and shoulder armour but no back protector. I do have a back protector already so I’ll just use that but if one doesn’t have a back protector already the cost of one will be to factor in. I think I might need to buy some braces as the trousers don’t have belt loops. I’ll see how that goes but it’s not a massive problem. I do like the small pocket on the left arm. Just big enough for a bank card and a toll ticket. Hopefully I will remain dry in this gear.

I'm also looking at the Vertical GTX jacket.
I have been using Rev'it gear for quite a few years now.......they offer great "bang for the buck" IMHO.

The Rev'it braces are called "strappers" they zip on at the back and slot into the little velcro pockets on the front of the pants (your pants will have them)

Very interested to hear your thoughts after a bit of use on the jacket

Thanks for the info re the braces being called strappers. I think I’ll get some.

This may be worth a watch …
