Your right though, you have to be careful, personally I’d think if a cheaper jacket works/lasts half as long as a Rukka at three times the price then it’s a win.

Love my Rukka gear, but won’t buy another. Cheaper gear is getting better all the time. My pal who runs intogear in Hull sells laminated gear by Leatt, much cheaper than so called quality gear but half the price.
I talked to a guy who’s got a set and he loves it. He went to Norway and it rained every day but stayed dry.

I agree with the faff but on a long, multi-climate trip a non-membrane (laminate or otherwise) plus a rain suit is still by far the best solution.

^^^never went into the double/triple laminated gig. Never been in a situation that I couldn't put on my waterproof jacket and trousers in time.
Worth remembering that Sportbike Shop, some BMW dealers have eBay shops. Bookmark or save the shop on your ebay account. Now and again they have some crazy deals at 50%, 70% discount. My latest one is a Klim Baja s4 jacket at 50% discount.
It is a mesh 2/3 jacket, wind stopper/heated jacket under and a Gore Tex water proof jacket over, is good as any winter jacket.

Having tried a few laminate suits, I do quite like the BMW stuff, especially the Enduroguard and the older version of the Street guard. They represent decent value if you buy carefully....
Often they crop up on here ...

I have Klim gear, yep expensive but he keeps me warm and dry, and I don't have to get off the bike if it stops raining and the sun comes out (or vice versa) at end of the day, its down to cost just like the bike you ride.
they all get you from A to B but some do it comfier than others, if spending another £300 makes me happier and makes my life easier... I will pay it.

By the way this is from someone who could never understand anyone spending a grand on a jacket and pants, i guess older is wiser

Would maybe mix the Vertical jacket (has all the spec I would need/want) with one of the higher end pair of pants.....with the fidlock vent flaps on the thighs (aqua defence?)

Yes Vertical jacket & poseidon trousers has definitely been done before, we do both suits. The Vertical makes the Poseidon look expensive to be honest even though the poseidon is probably the best competitor to high end Rukka/Klim gear. It's actually the suit every single manufacturer copied - tells you something about how good it is!
