I’m currently in the market for new jacket and trousers. I want laminated gore tex and am not really finding anything I like. I did order the Rukka Pathfinder R. When it arrived it isn’t laminated but a gore tex Z liner. I returned them.
I don’t want to spend £1100 on the jacket alone. Anyone any ideas? I’m not particular what make but do want 2 or 3 layer laminated gore tex. Any recommendations? Removable thermal liners are also on needs list.

Thanks in advance.

Have a look on XLMOTO as they are doing an extra 15% off with code DEC24.
I just bought my Richa Cyclone 2 set from them. I know its a z-liner, but for £502 for both the jacket and trousers (blackfriday deal) i can put up with the outer fabric getting a bit water logged in heavy rain.

I also bought this from ebay which works well. LINK

Louis have Klim Laminated Goretex jackets reduced at the moment, They may have your size. Not cheap but well under £1100. Worth the money. I've had most brands, cheap and so not cheap. The Badlands Pro is the best by far. Truly waterproof and well vented for summer. I was subjected to torrential rain on the motorway all the way from Loch Lomond to Carlisle in summer this year, no wet anywhere, not even around the waist area or through zips. I just use a down jacket under it for cold days.

I believe that the price from Louis is including VAT and duty.

I have Dainese laminated gear and it was way less than I expected to pay.
Fits me fine and has never leaked.

I’ve found Rev’it to be good quality at a reasonable price

Rather than laminated, I prefer multiple drop layers, so that I can get maximum cooling when it’s hot, I also use the water proof liner over the top of my jacket instead of inside, that way the actual jacket stays dry too

I’ve got the black version of this, go to about 9’ to see what I mean about the liner

Thanks to a recommendation from a member of this parish @Hatcho I bought Mrs Bravo and I some Oxford Mondial laminated textiles from the Sportsbike shop in Boston.
We got two suits for less than the price I paid for one BMdubya Tourshell suit.
We've ridden in some atrocious rain and we've stayed bone dry,you don't need to spend mega money.

I will have another look at the Oxford clothing. SPORTSBIKESHOP didn’t have any in my size last time I went. I did like the Hinterlands Jacket.

Check out the Klim Carlsbad i'm more than pleased with mine. its 2 layer rather than 3 but as a result not quite as stiff. Mines never let me down and the reason i went for it is the venting for warmer temps is excellent on the jacket. Sizing i found seems to be on the large size so i'd certainly try a couple of sizes before jumping in to see what's the best fit. Couple the jacket with a nice duck down jacket that folds up to next to nothing and your covered for a broad range of temps, I wouldn't bother with the expensive klim down jacket as you can pick up similar from the likes of mountain warehouse or Tog 24 for a lot less money and just as good IMHO.

Does it have to be GoreTex as the Halvarssens Gruven is an outstanding jacket, comfortable, laminated 2 layer and stretchy with Outlast and a quilted liner that can be worn separately.

I tried a Hinterland jacket and found it tight across the shoulders and fitted like a bin liner in the body. I then went to Motolegends and tried a Klim Latitude despite it being out of my proposed budget. Chalk and cheese, I bought it immediately, now I’ve got to save up for the trousers.

Glad you said that. I found the Hinterlands jacket very tight around the upper arms and across the shoulders but the next size up was baggy in the body. I’m going to Chamonix in the pickup in January via Rotterdam so might just call in at one or two clothing shops on the way there or back. The Klim gear is getting some good feedback so far.
Please keep your personal findings coming and thanks.

you can order it to be at a branch to try before you buy

you mention Skipton in the wine thread so can't be far from the Leeds shop. Or Infinity in Huddersfield.

As well as the Oxford stuff, look at the mid price Rev 'it and Richa stuff.

drop by FC Moto near Aachen. Adds about 50 miles to the most direct route

Bought loads of stuff from them mail order pre Brexit. Rukka clothing, Daytona boots. They have a lot of end of line stuff.

Thanks will do. Probably on the way back as we’ll have more time then. Thanks again.

Thanks again. Just had a look and because I am getting my trips mixed up it’s going to be May when we go that way I will call in then. I’m liking the looks of the Klim Badlands gear. 3 layer laminated gore tex sounds to be what I’m looking for. Just might buy a coloured jacket for a change with black trousers. Looks to be plenty of choice colour wise.

Don't waste money on expensive suits. Buy a half decent one and pair it with Scott waterproofs. This is the conclusion I have come to after 40 odd fucking years of searching for the holy grail of bike clothing.

I have waterproofs by Scott too but stopping and putting them on is a proper ball ache. I am fancying some properly waterproof gear for a change.

There is no such thing when it comes to laminates in my view. They all leak. Even when you spend over £1000 for a jacket.
Say that out loud.
Spending over a £1000 on a jacket 🤦

Over waterproof’s are 100%.
Yes, you have to stop and put them on but they work.

Its only taken me 40 years to realise that I’m right back where I first started when it comes to staying dry on a bike!

If in doubt just put em on anyhow. I wear mine this time of year rain or shine, it's another layer anyway.
