Just got done for speeding. For those of you who know the road the guards are normally under the bridge both sides as you come off the m50 heading towards town. I was travelling from town and watched for a speed check as normal under the bridge and saw that they were not there. Opened her up slightly only then to notice that they have a new spot at the next ramp on the left. They were in a Black BMW. Couldt see them until the last second. Fair cop though, I was speeding.

Were u on bike or in car? What speed were u doing? No chance of a bolliking? JJH

Traffic lads ? Unmarked ? Just been told the traffic one is green . . . . . . maybe they were just pretend gardai :D and you might get away with it.

On the bike 91 in 60 Zone. Traffic lads in unmarked Black 5 series BMW. Too fast for a bollicking.

Nice to hear a nice honest it's a fair cop and put your hand up. Loads of people would be moaning about a police state and so on. Good on ya JJH

In fairness 90 odd kph through there is not uncommon outside of rush hour. Any time after 7pm that's just keeping up with the traffic in my experience. Still a 60kph stretch mind, just feels dangerously slow sometimes especially as the bus lane merges just at the ramp there. I've had to gun it there more than once just to avoid trouble and that after 15+ years of using that stretch every day.

Most of them are pretend Gardai . Dont you need to be Rich, famous, or have a "Member "in the Family or the "Know" to get away with it .

" "Frankly, I think it's quite disgusting, on a personal level I find it quite disgusting,"

Ask Maurice .

Agreed, 60 kph on that stretch is dangerous. I'd love to see the reason/logic for reducing it to that speed.

Thanks for posting. Through there every day, twice a day, and occasionally making good progress. One has been warned.

Last Saturday there was a camara van parked on the path outside old Ardmore Hotel. Most wouldn't have seen it until on top of it. As has been said it's a known road for speed checks but the Gardai are moving frequently up and down the road on both sides of late. Best option stick to 60km in Finglas area.

Because coming from the M50 towards town it is downhill and you are more likely to be speeding. More importantly, it is right by the Garda station, so never far away from coffee and donuts

Also be aware that after a software "upgrade" the mobile Garda camera vans can now get motorbikes. The camera in the front of the van is now calibrated and admissable in court. Up till recently we were immune from the mobile vans as the front camera was not operational. Also the mobile cameras can do both sides of a normal road, so the fact that it's parked up on the other side to you does not mean its just shooting the other motorists.

Revenue generating WankerGoSafe van parked in the far end of the lay-by on the left after you leave the twisties and approach the Seanachai outside Dungarvan, will catch many heading east as they will get caught by the entrapment as its well hidden from vehicles heading towards Dungarvan.

They are not allowed to break the law ie park on a footpath. I have seen cases thrown out of court in those circumstances. JJH

are the private "go safe" camera vans able to get bikes,an ex bike cop told me they only take front numberpaltes and that bikes were safe as they only get pics of vehicles coming towards them,he prob would tell me that tho?.....

I got done last year after passing a gosafe van that was on the other side of the road facing forwards. In other words he can see your reg at the back when you are passing him on the other side of the road.

the way i took him up was that they could only take pics from the back window of the van
