Just spoken to Vines and Bahnstormer for a quote for the first 6000 mile service, and annual service at the same time, and was quoted as follows:

Bahnstormer £307.00 incl labour/ fluids/ VAT
Vines £305.00 incl labour/ fluids/ VAT

Interestingly, Vines first quoted £340, and said their price includes replacing the gasket in the rocker cover (which Bahnstormer didn't mention:rob). When I told them what BS quoted, they matched it, to include the gasket. Is this necessary?

Do these figures look good?:nenau

Seems a lot of dosh to me for an almost new bike although I have no clue...:nenau

Mine is due shortly so I can prepare myself

That is pricey. I have had quotes for about the same for the 12k service on my 1200RT and bear in mind that the prices I have had include replacing the spark plugs (£40 for the four on the 2010 twin cam engine)and air filter replacement (£16) which are not part of the 6k service. The quotes I had did not include replacing brake fluid, gearbox oil or final drive oil.

The annual service includes include replacing brake fluid, gearbox oil or final drive oil. Still sound expensive?

Also, I thought it's either annual or every 6,000 miles not both at the same time

The bike was registered on 1 September, so they are doing both at the same time.:rob

After the first year it won't need the gearbox oil or brake fluid changng for another two years. Final drive oil is also every two years or 12000 miles.

Paid £260 at AJ's in Shipley a couple of months back for my 2009 GSA, the vast majority of annual service stuff is part of the 6000 mile one.

I think you only end up paying for one service plus a brake fluid change when you get both done together.

Your quotes sound high but by the time you factor in travelling further for a slightly cheaper quote it probably aint worth your while

My April 2011 GSA had its 6000 done at Chandlers in Brighton for £220 in mid June,my mates Sept 2010 GSA had its 6000 and annual done the same week in Chandlers for £280 inclusive of loan bike, couldnt recommend them highly enough, although their biscuits arent up to Bahnstormer's standard.

It makes my quote of £463 for an 18,000 service and a pair of Roadsmarts sound reasonable on my 2010 twincam! :comfort

Holy cr*p thats seems expensive:eek: I went to BS last month and was quoted £260 for a 6000 mile:blast

I am still confused between 6,000 miles and annual service, the manual says regarding next service: in one year's time OR at 12,000 miles, so it's either one or the other IMHO. Gearbox oil and final drive oil should be at 12,000 miles or after two years

My bike is at the dealer for the 6k so will tell you afterwards :thumb2

It's whichever comes first so if you do about 6k a year then all is good. If you're doing 12k a year you'll be going twice and at 3k a year you'll still go annually but feel hard done to because you've not gone far since the last one.

Incidentally I paid about £260 at CW's in Dorchester for my first annual/6k service including the gearbox and brake fluid changes.

HTH :)

2010 twin cam

6k 23/09/10 £202.54
Annual 04/03/11 £ 71.76 for items not done in 6k
12k 19/07/11 £290.33

Mike

6k done
Engine oil
Air Filter
Brake fluid
EUR 222.72 (in Milan)

Next one due in 12 months or 12k, so the dealer told me :rob

So £305 for the 6000 mile AND annual service doesn't look so bad after all.:comfort
