Well thats my first 100 km on the GS (or any boxer ) and what can I say ? It fun!! Sooo much different to a big sport bike. Its slow but not so slow ?? I also thought that it is a bit noisier engine wise most likely because of the lack of water cooling and a few pops on the old silencer on down shifts... that normal? Gear box again what can I say.. soo much smoother than I had thought it would be, can't feel it move into first!! Riding position great! Brakes as good as many sport bikes and switchable ABS. Bike give pretty good feedback and defo inspired confidence even though it was very cold it has tourance tyres what are they like as a road gripper? Heated grips fantastic and boy did I need them today its baltic down here, sunny mind! The indicators I am not so sure about but we will see was my first shot after all. BMW topbox tankbag and TOM- TOM sat nav whats not to like. The future looks like it could be an great deal of fun... mountain tops here I come:D.

Sling the tyres and get some Roadsmarts or Pilot Road 3s :rob

No need. The limiting factor on Tourances is riding off the edge of the tread on the rear and you have to be pretty cranked over to do that. At that point you're dragging the pegs. Tourance EXP is a bit grippier but there's not that much in it.

Think I will use the tyres up first:flag I thought the popping would be normal the bike was serviced by previous owner 300 km ago. I got the full history incuding all bills paid from the dealer been serviced every year and most years its only done about 4000km! Going out tomorrow (kid with new toy) to do a couple of mountain passes the weather is forecast sunny but cold. From my house I can do the col d'tourmalet, col du soulor and the col d'aubisque in one day, in the summer its great don't know about winter though! I will tale a few snaps on the way maybe post on here if I could find out how!

-8.4 deg C on Col du Tourmalet at the moment.....

Hmm... maybe just have a wee look at the temps before I do anything daft! Its easy to forget just how big the difference in temp between the bottom and the top is.
