First annual service time ???

I'm about to arrange my 600 mile running in service and was wondering if the annual service is due 12 months from then or 12 months from the date of registration ?
I'm hoping its 12 months from date of first service as I'd rather have a service carried out in March at the beginning of my biking season than in November which is when I usually tuck the bike away for winter.

When you stop the bike off for the 600mile service ask the service advisor at the dealer. I find that unlike some of the plebs on this forum they're usually extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

It's a year between services, not when the bike was registered.

I thought that it was 'variable servicing': there is a readout on the dash that tells you when the next service is due. It is not a fixed time

When you go for a service they reset the counter as 1 year or 6,000 miles, whichever is soonest. At least that's what has happened with my last 6 BMWs.

This is the kind of problem you experience when BMW keep moving the goal posts. Nobody seems to know the 'truth'

Speak to your dealer but to me the annual service means 12 months or 6 thousand miles from date of registration and not from when you had your 600 mile service done, which, by the way, by my reckoning you are already well overdue

Typically it is 6000 miles or one year. That said, I just go by miles.

That's not true. It is year from last service. if you have BMW Navigator V it will tell you exactly that, unless someone won't reset service check counter on 600mls service.

I haven't got a BMW Navigator V but I do have a speedometer and a calendar

My point was that Nav V reads out service check from ECU and tells you when is your next service due. On my bike which had 12k service done 2 weeks ago shows next service due in 1 year from service date or how many miles to go before next service.

If bmw technicians are resetting service interval at 600mls, then next due service is 1 year from service or 6000mls, whichever comes first. As I didn't own my bike from new, I can't confirm if bmw technicians are resetting it on this run in service, if they do, your statement about registration date is wrong.

There has to be a given start date for anything to be done annually and the date of registration is a valid starting point

As has already been helpfully suggested in post 2 the OP needs to clarify the service interval directly with his dealer

According to what the dealer stamped in my service book the first full service is due 12 months or 6000 miles after the 600 mile running in service.

It is 1 year from first service, at least that was what I was told.

Incidently, some years ago I had an annual service done on my 'R' at about 5000mls. I was told I would have to return for the 6000ml sevice! Absolutely crazy. Checked with BMW and was told it was up to individual dealers. So it is important to discuss with them what you expect and perhaps do the annual and 6k at the same time - they are vitually identical!

When my first service was done on my 2014 LC I was told, by my dealer, next service either 6000 miles (so at 6636 miles on the bike) or one year from the date of the first service.

As far as I know, and disregarding what manuals say, the only reason to put a time based schedule on is for brake fluid changes. Everything else should be mileage or condition based.
