First Motorcycle Specific GPS !!!

This unit has a similar sort of 3d type display to the navman I was playing with in Halfords. It seems far more understandable than Garmins line diagrams. Ive never seen the new Garmins, but are the graphics anything like this one.
I think I might not get lost if I had this. Not much chance of that though. Buy me one somebody.

I think the Garmin PDAs are 3D. Personally, I prefer the 3D, since it makes it easier to understand.

Good on ya TomTom thinking about us poor bikers;..

Nice one :thumb but seeing their car model retails at around € 750 (525 GBP) I don't expect these to be cheaper. They have to make them more robust for the weather and clumsy bikers to fumble with . Maybe some of the other manufacturers will start to wake up to the bikers GPS too. Tough luck Garmin ;)
 
Personally I think that Garmin are way behind the ball at this moment.

To think this unit was made for bikers, has Bluetooth, touchscreen....

Don't know about their coverage, in Advrider they're saying the mapping software is made by Atlas.com (garmin uses Navitech).

But I'd have to guess it ain't half bad...

Seems to me that their is more and more competition in Garmin's market. More units being shifted and the big players taking an interest. When you compare the price of a GPS to a PDA, they look poor value.

At this rate DVD player will be cheaper than a DVD to play on it, then GPS's must come down in price soon.

In fairness, there has been a steady reduction in Garmin prices over the last couple of years. My Streetpilot III cost about £1100 (after discount) in early 2002...

True, but that's more due to parts cost lowering. If you think about it... 1000 quid for a bit of electronics !! Parts probably cost 100. They can put GPSs inside watches nowadays.

I really hope that TomTom give Garlim a run for their money, and start forcing a price war.
 
I'm hoping to have one of those Riders in my sticky little paws shortly. I'll check it out against other makes asap, and will be using it for directions, hwne we ride round the coast in May.
If it isn't accurate, I could get wet. :rolleyes: PB
 
I notice from TomTom's website that you can download updates for your maps, and you can download different voices, speed cameras, POI's, etc.

MUCH, much better than Garmin !!
