The Road King and I recently returned from a ride to Arizona and there's not much to report regarding the bike. With 1,365 miles on the odometer I changed oil to synthetic (Mobil 1) which required 3 qts plus 4 ounces to put the level right in the middle on the dip stick then left early the next morning. After auto tuning, the FP3 has the bike dialed in and it runs nice. Fuel mileage ranged from a low of 35 mpg (our smaller gallons) which was the first day into a moderate headwind on I-64 with cruise set at 77 mph on the GPS. The rest of the ride was almost entirely on 2-lane roads usually between 60-75 mph and 40-45 mpg was typical with a high of 49 in Colorado's higher altitude. The trip was 4,920 miles there and back over 10 days which included taking 2 extra days riding in Colorado. So 10 days riding and 2 visiting my friend in Arizona. By the time I got back the oil level was maybe 1/4" down from the middle so basically no oil consumption.
No complaint with the C&C seat but the stock high bars are going to have to go because after a few hours I was getting some back and shoulder discomfort. I think I'll try 2008-13 RK bars which are about 4" lower.
The central US (as well as the east) is receiving a lot of rain this year in fact I can't recall ever seeing western Kansas and eastern Colorado so green. Crops in low lying areas of fields were under water in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and eastern Kansas.
Anyway here are a few pics. Everyone's seen them of the south west US so here are a couple of Kansas which is so different and flat than here in WV I find it interesting.

My friend and I took some time to shoot there in the National Forest near his home.

Riding through one of the Indian reservations in New Mexico on the return.
