Hi , heres my first ride report, pics aint great but the ride was awesome ............
Here's the story ...... i had planned a trip with 5 other mates , the idea being to go to Applecross on day 1 , and over to sky on day 2 , then home on day 3 .
until 2 days before departure the weather forecast looked a bit ropey , so , one by one they pulled out until it was just myself left .
having a 3 day pass authorised and signed off by the wife , there was no way i was'nt going , lol . heres how the weather panned out
so , i packed up the bike
and set off for Applecross ... first stop . fort william
check out the sky .... we dont see it blue like that too often here in scotland . lol
the pictures get a wee bit more exciting .. i promise ...but the quality is'nt great .. took em with a camera phone ...
on through Spean Bridge and the Commando Memorial , onto the A82 and Glen Garry .
and over the mountain pass .....
into Applecross
where i stopped for the night
woke up at 7am .. got sorted and decided that i wanted to see John'o'Groats
( i've lived in Scotland all my days and have never been north of FT. William .. hangs his head in shame !!! )
so off i headed ,, first planned stop would be Ullapool for lunch
I left Applecross at 8am and took the coast road heading to Kinlochewe and on to Ullapool ( some pics of the route )
arrived at Ullapool at 12.00 , just in time for a spot of lunch at the Arch Inn ....... highly recommended B.T.W. great grub and friendly staff
set the timer on my cameraphone and took this pic to send to the Loosers who wimped out of the trip ...
an hour for lunch and then off again ,,,, next stop john'o'Groats
( the scenery just gets better and better from here on in )
turn right at loch assynt and up to kylesku bridge .. simply stunning , the pics dont do it justice ...
Achlyness or the Bahamas i can't remember which !!!! LOL
2 PANZERS ....... ...... well , actualy its a british army MKII striker missile launch platform destined for the millitary firing range at Cape Wrath to be blown up !!!
amazing what you find in the darkest reaches of the Scottish Highlands ( the A838 road to Durness to be exact )
Don't quote me ,,, but i think this one's at Polla on loch Eriboll
Devine intervention ..... following an EXTREMELEY close call with a nutter in an escort van i decided to head up a mountain for some TIME OUT and the big man sent me a sign ,,,, just like in The Blues Brothers ..... Jesus H Christ ,,,,,, I see the light .... !!!!! lol .
YEEEEEEEEEEE,,,,HAAAAAAA,,,,,,,,!!!!! 17:50pm....... made it...... HHmmmmm ,,, i wonder ,,, could i make Loch Ness before dark for a spot of wild camping ????
You bett your ass i could ... Anythings possible on a Bavarian Tractor !!!!!
Had a wee scare on the A9 at the Berriedale Braes right enough ,,,lol
found a sweet spot for wild camping overlooking the shores of Loch Ness , turned up a forrestry track and found a flat plateau overlooking the Loch with enough pine cones and wood to get a good campfire going .... just enough room for probably 5 or 6 wee tents ...
tent pitched ,, fire lit ,, red wine opened ,,, dinner on the stove ,,, and no kids fighting and arguing in the background .... BLISS !!!
HOLY SHIT !!! 2 bottles of red later and think i've stoked the fire too much .... its outa control ....... lol ..
day 3 ,,,, well , my phone battery ran out , so no pics , but it was a return back down the A82 to ft. william , on through Glencoe. and home .. a tad under 900mls in 3 days .. and absolutly amazing... worth the broken arse that the stock saddle gave me ... next purchase ,,, a roho airhawk , lol , thinking of doing this route later in the year , probably over 3 nights and 4 days if anyone is interested give me a shout ...
