Picked the little bugger up at 11:00 this morning, and had a ride out to Abbergavenny.

Quite a few bikes there, including another '14' plate GS. Had a chat to the owner, and he seemed as pleased as me about his new bike.

Very pleased with the performance, even though I'm holding back for the first few hundred miles. The bike is so much smaller and lighter than the K16 I traded in.................. And to say it's more nimble is a understatement.

Very pleased so far........................

Glad you like the new bike you must notice a big difference I did going from a K1300R! Good luck running it in and just wait until after, it's a cracker!

"Running it in" Honestly..........just ride it. Lots of healthy acceleration and heavy deceleration,up hill and down dale, up and down the gearbox.

Do it sensibly, don't screw the balls of it but don't be gentle with it,do not labour the engine, avoid any constant speed, avoid town centres.

I've always run mine in fairly hard, never had one that burnt any oil.

160 miles today on my new one, need 750 miles by 15th for first service. I did not see anything in the hand book about running in, Im just taking it steady keeping the machine lightly loaded and using all the gears. Ill give it a good thrashing between 500 and 750 miles before the oil change.
I very pleased so far, the bike feels much smoother than the demo machine, everything works, gear box, clutch, heated grips
etc . Im wondering if the engine has the extra transmission damper the adventure bike is supposed to get, it would be odd to make two different engines.
The only extra I have so far is a MudSlinger front fender extender and this gets a massive:thumby: the roads were terrible but the front of the bike has stayed clean. I did think about a crud guard but nothing has got past that extender.
I hosed it down and the muck just fell off the bike, I wish the coating they put on in the factory was available in a spray on can.
Whitby tomorrow, looking cloudy but not much rain if the forecast is right.

Enjoy your bike and take care.

When I say running in, I mean not red lining the engine, or letting the engine labour.................... Otherwise I'm just getting on with it.

Done 10 miles today, but the weathers looking shite for tomorrow, so it's in the workshop to fit Fender extender, crud catcher, light protector and engine bars if I get time.

Glad you had a good day, great weather today eh. I wish i had picked mine up today now, still not long till the 5th:D.
If you are coming through Worcester give me a shout the kettle is always on.

Congrats guys.:thumb Re running in, I always ride mine how I always ride, but trying not to red line too much. Never had any repercussions later on with oil consumption etc.:beerjug:

Ye that's how I ran mine in, no oil used in 3k+ miles. I just kept to the max revs for the first 100 miles!

Nice one Gargy - keep enjoying. Picture or 2 when you get chance :thumb2

Got all the bits fitted that need to go on. Headlight protector. Rad guards. Crud catcher. Engine bars. Fender extender. That's about it for now, but I am going to build my own GPS bar with the capacity to mount my Drift HD camera. I might even weld a mount for the camera onto the engine bars.

I've blinged up so many bikes in the past, I'm not sure I can be bothered any more................:nenau:nenau

I've come to the opinion that it's just not worth the money............................ Rather spend it on fuel, touring and better kit.

I agree, I've spent loads on my bikes, thinking twice now before I do anymore.

I'm certainly looking forward to the season starting this year. Already got two trips sorted. One to Le Mans for the Moto GP, then 9 days around the pyrenees / France.

Not sure if I can wangle any more trips without upsetting SWMBP.
