First ride R65LS 1983

Bought in 2022. Finally had a first ride today; well, 3 rides to be accurate, to tune and balance the carbs.
Very pleasant to ride. Comfortable riding position and handles very well.
Likes to be revved more than the R80s and R100s that I've had and feels quite sporty.
The Armours brand silencers are louder than I'd like them to be. Anyone else noticed this or have any alternative recommendations?
When setting the tick over, both sides seem happiest with the mixture screw 1 1/2 turns out rather than the recommended 1/2 turn. Tick over is steady, but is this within normal range or a sign of something off elsewhere? Balanced carbs around 2500-3000 Rpm and the bike seems to run well, though the Carbtune I used wasn't the best.
The bike was imported from Germany in the early 90s. Anyone got any idea about the origin of the sandwich rack on the back? I haven't come across another like it.

From memory, my old R65 had the carbs set at just over half a turn out (between half and 3/4) and ran fine...have you checked both carb diaphragms?

Yes. Carburetors have been cleaned in an ultrasonic bath and checked; new needles, needle jets, o rings and diaphragms have been fitted. It still ticks over better at about 1 1/2 turns out.
I'm starting to think that the timing also needs a bit of attention/ checking. It has a Boyer Bransden kit fitted inside the 'beancan'. They are meant to be set at fully advanced (Z mark) rather than static (S mark). While the S mark is visible at tickover, I don't seem able to view the Z mark. The 'beancan' was already set at the limit of (advanced) adjustment, so further fiddling and investigation is needed. I have done a couple of hundred miles, but I think it can run better than it presently does.

I have a pair of "Brituro Silencers Ltd" branded silencers for a 1983 R65 which I am willing to sell if you were interested. The RHS is new and in it original box and the LHS has seen very little use. Photos attached below
