............of 2014 and my new-to-me bike
Not a big winter rider, in Dec/Jan, but weather was mildish today and the rains had dried out the roads, so it was time to get kitted up and get out there, having not ridden since late Oct 2013
For the last couple of weeks, i've been fettling this XR as it came without tax and MOT and needed a going-over, as it's only done just over 1000 miles since it was new 10 years ago and I previously did some of its intial mileage too
I've missed having a trail bike, since selling the XR250 to Wrinklyowlie last summer
So, I'd planned a quick shakedown in and around the Howardian Hills in North Yorkshire
Quick fuel up in Thirsk and we're away
View of the White Horse, from Kilburn

One of my favourites views, albeit a bit murky today.............on a clear day you can see York Minster

Bilsdale Moor

The Ford at Caydale mill was fairly high today and the bottom was a bit slimy too

A fancy, expensive stone bridge on a forgotten highway of yesteryear

Another favourite trail ride, through this old Beech wood is a cracker - despite a couple of mardy dogwalkers at the other end

North Yorks Moors, above Farndale

A zoom in, of the next trail up to Blakey Ridge

and now a pic of this easy trail

Chickened out of the ford at Douthwaite mill and went over the wooden troll bridge instead - the weir and river were in full spate, after recent rains

Back through Helmsley - not many bikes about and then out on the Malton road, for one of the last trails of the day

Back home via Byland Abbey and Kilburn
I covered about only 75 miles, in the 3 hours that I was out and it was great to be back on a bike again and XR performed well
