My 65 plate Gs was in yesterday for its 600 mile service and was informed about a new recall that's out, a clutch slave cylinder replacement. Service receptionist and mechanic were both polite and helpful, even offered to collect and deliver the bike when it goes back for the work to be done (I live about 100 miles away from the dealer)

I bought the bike from them late last year and the sales team were spot on then, good to see the service dept is good too. The bike was washed while it was there and the bill wasn't bad either.

Hi Jim, been buying cars and bikes from John Clarks for about six years now. Great bunch, from top to bottom. Brian Malcolm is very knowledgable on all aspects and does all he can to help. They also have the best coffee in Dundee.
Next time your in tell Andy I was singing his praises.

That's good to know Jimmer; as I'll be picking up my new GS LC from them in the next couple of weeks.

I agree on all counts; although I've yet to meet Andy face to face he's been very patient answering all my silly questions by email:thumb2

By contrast, my nearest BMW dealership only sells cars although they do service bikes. The car folk couldn't find their own *rse with both hands; even if they could all agree on its part number and price - which they couldn't.

Astonishingly, it's the same company but a different branch

Chalk and Cheese!

Had my bike (GSA Te) in for it's 600 mile service on Friday last.............................no mention of any recall ?
Do you have the official recall notice reference?
Regards,
John

I did think about getting the service done at Aberdeen but I thought the trip to Dundee was worth it, can't hurt building a decent relationship with a dealer that's been good in the past either.

I don't have a recall number, when the mechanic came to see me he did say that the recall was just out and he didn't have all the info yet, they are going to contact me once they are ready to go.

Thank you............................I will keep a 'eye out' for the notification.
Many thanks,
John

Pick up my new triple black from them on Friday, Andy is off all next week so not sure who you'll speak to in regards any recall and he certainly never mentioned it to me.

Oh and I've also known their technician for years and he never said anything either when I popped in to speak to him.

I took my 65 plate GSA into Bahnstormers today for its' first service and they told me about the clutch slave cylinder replacement recall. I have recently noticed that the clutch biting point seemed wrong (too close to bar) sometimes. During the service they found that the slave cylinder is actually leaking fluid so the bike is not safe to drive. The new part is aparently on order and I now have a 'replacement' bike, a R1200R which is OK but not great given I'm 6'3". Anyway, watch this space...

Hi Bradz.

Which Bahnstormer did you go to. I've a 65 plate GS but not received any information regarding a recall

I went to Bahnstormers Alton, it sounds like early days at the moment as they had to order the new part from Germany. I'm waiting to find out when it will arrive / get fitted.

Cheers

Neil

In for first service yesterday and told of recall, but still waiting for parts from Germany

Picked my bike up yesterday, the clutch slave cylinder has been replaced under warrany. The clutch now operates correctly so I'm a happy bunny.
