First Service - R1200GSA _ Cooper Tunbridge Wells

Any comments from people who's actually used Coopers would be appreciated rather than mindless drivel like your comment.

I usually peak at mindless drivel but I'll give it a go.

Bought my latest GSA from them in May of this year, first bike purchase from Coopers but 7th GS. I did have my previous GS serviced there a couple of times though and a few warranty bits sorted. Always reasonable service charges compared to the other dealers I've used over the years and good service. Never been kept waiting for the warranty stuff either.

My first service was free of charge because I negotiated it as part of the deal when I bought the bike, along with a few other bits and pieces. That's normal process for me when when buying a new bike.
I've got to say, I thought I was pushing it with asking for what I did but, credit to Coopers, they gave me everything I asked for and I bought a new bike. Rode away on a shiny new 90th GSA two days later and first service five days later on the way to a long weekend bike trip.

Granted, they're not the most "expert" Motorrad dealer but they're friendly enough and willing to help if you just talk to them.

If you're not happy with them, Vines in Redhill is a cracking ride across country from RTW, will take you less than an hour and you'll turn up with a smile on your face.

I have bought two new bikes from Coopers TW. I have always received great service from them and got an excellent trade in price when I changed from my GSA to the new LC.

Whilst others have been moaning about their dealers' lack of luggage, they supplied me with LC panniers, top box and tank bag each within a week of ordering them.

Then again I don't spend 13k on a bike and moan about £178.

Just done my first 600 miles on my R1200GSA 90th Ann edition. Got the bike on Saturday so happy to do the running in as per the book (higher and higher revs up to occasional redlining during last 150 miles. Was annoyed that the dealership said to keep the revs under 4k for first 600 miles. This is crazy advice and completely not what is written in the user manual for all post 2010 bikes. Maybe this was correct for pre 2010 GS bikes but my bike is 2013 purchased new 5 days ago!

Anyway was very disappointed to hear what they will charge me for the first service. GBP178.50 incl VAT.

Please can someone tell me if I am being ripped off this looks very high and from what I've heard by word of mouth people say its definitely on the high side compared to other dealerships. When I told the guy who took my bike this morning he said nobody had ever said they were dissatisfied with the price charged for first services by Cooper Tunbridge Wells. I think this is a plain blatant lie. If anyone can tell me the opposite I'd like to go back them with proof it's not true.

Overall apart from the Sales Rep Elle, who is excellent, the rest of the dealership is very poor. Countless errors by the mechanics over the years ranging from delivering bikes with parts missing, incorrect tyre pressures, giving non ABS / non ESC high performance bikes (S1000RR) out to new riders as loan bikes without explaining this slightly important fact.

Would really like to name and shame Coopers. They need to improve and are letting down BMW in the South East.

How much??

Bahnstormer, Maidenhead, bought 1200GSA and didn't negotiate first service into the deal. Still only cost £78, I was told it was subsidised by BMW!!

I am not trying to take sides here but the logic doesn't seem to add up ...

The person complaining that he is being screwed over by a BMW dealer is calling someone else who hasn't been done over a brain dead monkey?

In the interest of fairness and impartiality ... I have to admit I have been screwed over by BMW dealers and other merchants too. It's f**king annoying.

175 Quid? Pah, I've just paid £240 at Coopers for a 600 mile service (and that was with 10% discount!) on my new GSA!! Thought the service guy had confused it with the 6000, but no, that's the going rate apparently!!

My fault, I got what I thought was a very good deal on the bike and didn't push getting the first service thrown in because I was expecting it to be around £150 and didn't ask before handing over my bike keys.

Lesson learnt the hard way, I shall be ringing round before committing for the 6000

Is this the tale of your bumper bargain helmet or your cunning money making plan of leasing motorcycles for three months? :D

Have you spoken with the dealer about these issues or are you just whinging on the forum hoping to get some sort of anti dealer backing?.

If you don't like them, go elsewhere. Not rocket science is it?

Christ there are some challenged people on this forum. :blast

Yes spoken with dealership, no don't want to go elsewhere, I wanted simply to see if anyone else had a similarly poor impression of this dealer as compared to Vines, Bahnstormer etc...

And secondly to see if the first service price was reasonable or not.

That's all. Why this is such a bad malicious thing to ask is beyond me. :nenau

I'm still worried by the news of the S1000RR loaner... What's the story?

It's not, it's just the way you did it. There's not many posters who can get the average forum user to side with a BMW dealer over them but congrats to you for managing it.

It's the above average forum user I'm targeting. Yep funny how the sheeple in a crowd follow eachother. This thread has momentum to defend the dealership, which is fine. But the useful replies are those with a similar or contrary experience to share of this particular dealer. Not useless brain dead moronic suggestions to 'go elsewhere'. Hadn't thought of that mr average forum user!!!! :blast

Thanks all anyway. Certainly highlights the calibre of many who frequent this forum.

I really don't get your beef

Some bods have paid £150 and others £240, so your bill of £178 appears to be the median for a 600 mile service

What exactly is your gripe?

You can buy a bike from Scotland if you so desire, however you have selected Cooper TW.................your choice

FFS.........................get over it:blast

Indeed it does ...

... and you'll fit in nicely, once you've got your head out of your arse :thumb

Vizsla:
are very high energy, gentle-mannered, loyal,[5] caring, and highly affectionate. They quickly form close bonds with their owners ( BMW dealer ), children and even strangers. Often they are referred to as "velcro" dogs because of their loyalty and affection. Whenever these dogs feel neglected or want something, they will CRY!!!!:blast

PS. I paid NOTHING for the first service:pullface

He maybe judging everyone else by his own standard ?. :D

I'd have thought you'd seen it all coming from the top of your ivory tower.
