First Service

We are talking years ago not months re the Ducati. I traded it in for the BMW GS I have now in early 2018 so I think that horse has well and truly bolted. I did email Ducati uk at the time to express my thoughts. They didn’t respond unsurprisingly. Now social media is such a big deal, maybe attitudes have changed.

Chances are that you would not have to take time off work. I've heard it quite a few times these big companies don't even defend it or turn up and lose by default. Ever seen the program where the bailiffs turn up at multi million pound companies to enforce a court decision and have the power to take anything of value to settle the payment? Most of the time they don't even know they have lost a case and they try and bluster and bully, but always pay up when the bailiffs threaten to take goods.

Yes I know what your referring to. I know of 2 people that have been through the process. In those cases they have had to turn up because the case wasn’t conceded in advance but in only 1 did the other party turn up to defend their position. I’m not sure what happens if neither of you turn up.

Four years ago I paid £297 for the first service on my GS Rallye.

I pick up my new GSA Triple Black tomorrow and the salesman kindly threw in the first service as part of the deal. Thats what happens when we get a proper motorcycle dealership in the island selling BMW in stead of Dick Turpin.

I do agree though (within reason) that we cannot expect all the nice shiny flash showrooms and coffee and then moan about the price of oil.

Shame the forecast is absolutely diabolical tomorrow........

I was told that to get a better deal you're better going to a BMW dealer that sells cars. it turned out true for me, I didn't have to negotiate the free first service. I fully expected to pay for it when they gave me my key fob and said "that's it, nothing to pay"

Thats because they didn't actually service it ;)

You can’t officially go faster than 40mph so it won’t get that dirty :). Or are you going for a sneaky fast blast at somewhere like St Ouens where it’s straight for more than 100yds.

When I lived in Jersey ( left in 91) I think there was a tiny Bmw car dealership at Belle Royal maybe ? and 1 bike dealership ( sold Yamaha I think ). I bet it’s changed now.

Spoonz. We didn't have green lanes (15mph) and loads of 20/30mph areas in the early 90's. We had loads of bike dealers back then too you just needed to know where to look ;)

At least on a bike you can 'squirt it' along the odd road. St Ouen is too obvious. They will get ya!
